    Hi,

I am an ecommerce owner retailing men's clothes and have been approached by edirectory co uk who are wanting me to sign up with them.

You basically list your products on their site by uploading a product feed. There is a yearly fee starting from £495 for 20 products and a 7% commission on each sale. They also list your products via numerous partner sites as well.

Apparently, they get about 150,000 unique visitors per day and are about SERP 4 for "online shops"

There sales pitch is very convincing and it all sounds very good.

However, I was wondering if anyone else had any experience of them or thoughts about them.

    Thanks

    Jimbob

eDirectory? Thanks for the good ol' laugh. All of these commission-based stores are a fraud and are unlikely to show the increase in sales you'd expect for paying £495 up front as well as 7% commission. I must admit 7% is actually quite a low rate in comparison to others - but their SERP's show why. Google an actual product, and I'll doubt you'll find them very easily. It also depends on the market you are targeting, which as you say is male clothing - how many of your potential customers search for a phrase like 'online shops' to buy clothes? I doubt very many will. The rule of thumb with online sales is - if it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true;)

    Hi Jimbob,

If I were you I would save your money and invest it elsewhere.

They no doubt do get a lot of traffic, but there actual ranking for the key phrase they mentioned is non existant. I checked the first 1000 results in Google, Yahoo and MSN and they couldn't be found. As they are UK based I figured I would be fair and do a manual check and they weren't in the top 50 when restricting the results to UK only.

I personally wouldn't sign up with any company that wants a fee for joining AND a cut of the sale. One or the other but not both.

Edirectory's aggressive sale team are constantly calling me. I have told them if their system was good then they would waive the join up fee and operate on commission alone. Of course, they can't do this because they know there product is not good and they rely on the join up fee.

    I would NOT join.

    Best Wishes
