i've tried it but it didnt work. i'm sure it can be done but link bait is HARD to hit the nail on the head with. it's probably worth planning something out thouroughly and making it relevant and entertaining/useful to your visitors.

I've had great success with videos for my sites.. pretty much it depends on what you want from the videos in relation to your site objectives

It's extremely rare for video ads to produce no results... How did you try it?

My notes from a video marketing ebook,

It worked for me, you get indexed quickly and enjoy a steady stream of traffic:
    @@@@@@@@@@@

    1) The thumbnail (presentation shot) of your video, is taken by youtube right in the middle of the video, meaning
if the video is 2:00 minutes long, the shot is taken at 1:00

    2) Put the link to your web-site as the first word of the video's description

    3) Links have to start with full URL "http://www" in order to appear as a link in the description

    4) In the video include a little hand that points to the side of the screen where the link is (optional)

    5) To make the video replay itself include the following into the video code after the url of the video
"&autoplay=1&loop=1" (might be against youtube's TOS) (in the optimization tips chapter of the video guide)

    6) Youtube's videos display in 320x240 pixels resolution (bring up the size of your video to that size)
(if you can't then make sure that the resolution of your video is divisible by that amount)

    7) Title of the video has to be keyword rich

    8) Include your keywords into the description (that's how people are going to find you)

    9) When targeting a specific keyword, do a search for "keyword" (with brackets) in Google, then copy
the SERP (without the URLs into the bottom description of the video) - That's the lazy way of doing it
instead you can do some keyword research

    10) Make video replies to popular videos (make sure to find videos where people can respond by default)

    11) You can buy accounts from other Youtube users

    12) Joining groups helps get traffic

    13) Start "Tagging and categorising"

my site sells designer clothing by some decent mid-weight labels. we shot a semi-pro video of some models wearing the clothes and cut it to a funky sound track we made ourselves. the overall quality was between student and professional, so in no way did it suck. but it didnt catch on unfortunately. i put it down to not enough people being into the brands enough to find it interesting.

So, the problem would appear to be the product, not the ads in question... Would you like to post a link to your store, so I can have a look?

I see... You should try submitting your video ads to ad agencies. It's a gamble, but your ads willo definatly be shown that way. There'll be no need for people to search for them, cause the ads will go directly to them.

I do a lot of YouTube marketing and it works very well. It takes more than just putting up a good video though. I have software to get honors and bring in a lot of natural traffic. I post news bloopers for my offbeat news site, brings in a lot of visitors. I also post crap vids for incentivized CPA offers and make a good chunk from those.

I have had great success with using youtube videos to promote my forum. Over the past 22 months I have uploaded over 300 videos, which are viewed an average of 10,000 times daily. My youtube channel has 7,062 subscribers.

    My youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/survivalistboards

Which is used to promote my survival forum

The videos are also embedded into my wordpress blog.

Youtube is my forums 4th or 5th highest source of traffic. And my #1 source of targeted traffic. Even though google sends 20X the traffic to my site then youtube does, youtube traffic is around 65X more likely to create an account and join the forum. In other words, youtube traffic is very targeted.

I have one youtube video with over 200k views that represents about 10% of my websites traffic. So yes it does work, make sure you put your website url in your youtube video and in your profile so it can be easily clicked on while watching your video. Good Luck

Video marketing can be an excellent method of generating traffic, however it's not just about putting it up the video on YouTube and leaving it. You need to upload it to facebook, myspace and various other places where people can view it. Also adding it to relevant forum threads can help.

YT vids may be nofollow but if you're after strictly links there are so many niche video sites out there that scrape and pull from YT automatically that you end up getting links from those, just put your http://yoursite.com in your description and it gets posted on tons of sites.
