    Hello,

I have a few Wordpress websites and I was just wondering if anyone has had their sites hacked by Arab hacker? My fault for not keeping anything upto date or using any sort of security at all, which I have sorted now, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had it happened?

This is not something that I have had happen to me. But I am sorry that this has happened to you. It has also made me realized that I should take some security measures for my blog.

It is a very common problem.

As soon as WP find a security issue, they will release a new version. If we fail to get the new version or update the site, it is very likely to get hacked.

Most WP users had bad experience.

Thanks guys. Just makes me feel popular :) Must be something about my sites that made him come after me. Only pain is I also run an Autism site for information for parents with children with autism, and he even hacked that, I mean no ethics or what?

No I haven't. There are plugins you can install which will prevent you from being hacked though.

Along the same lines as this thread.... anyone know of really good plugins to install for security purposes? and I don't mean "trendy" plugins. I mean really good ones that are updated regularly and actively. I don't even mind paying for a really good wordpress security.

One of them is called BulletProof security, the other one is called Block Bad Queries, those are the only two I know but they work really good. :) HOpe that helps.

I am now using BulletProof security, it is very good, even stopped one of my stores working when the payment system tried to pass details back.

    Hi

I've had several sites hacked by some Arabic chap, my own fault for not keeping the WP editions up to date. Then takes the best part of a morning to fix the damn thing. I guess the security plugins are good but the basic thing is just to keep it all up to date.

I also have had some of my WP sites hacked. There were links to loans and mortgages websites on my WP websites and this malicious code was not even visible. You could only see it if you viewed the source code of my website's Google cached version. But it was my fault, because I didn't update my WP blogs - I was running them on old WP versions.

It is important to always keep your WordPress version as well as all your plugins and themes up to date.

BulletProof security is on Wordpress, if you search for plugins with the word security the it was the first one in the list for me. I haven't bought it, but I think I just might.

I've been hacked on 4 different occasions. It's so sad when it happens. I use a customized cleanup script I wrote, that I could paste, but it would only help those who are savy with PHP.
I've been hacked by spammers, and teenage extremist that hate the west but love the internet : P

Apparently one of my sites has been black listed, I found this out via the Google Webmaster tools, but they provided a link where you can go and explain that the hack has been removed. Funny thing is I still find that site in Google.

First question, how do you know it has been banned? If they are showing Adsense, then my guess would be they have only "blocked" or "stopped" indexing your site, but that you would find out from within the google webmaster tools, which is how I found out.
