Ok, so I now know that I should be spending my money on quality backlinks rather than traffic (at first anyways), but I am very hesistant on paying someone I don't know money for a backlink. If I pay someone for a 6 month backlink, and it is taken down early, how do you guys handle that? Have you ever gotten burned? Any recourse? My money is very tight and I would hate to spend what little I have and get burned. Just a little thought I've had running around my head...
there's no way you can do anything to get back you money... no court will grant you a hearing for a 'fraud' case involving a couple of $$$. the only thing you can do is to report the person in a forum like this one. what i suggest is that you only buy long term links from people who has a reputation or has been in a forum for a while... that way, they will want to keep their reputation and will not cheat you for small money...
Why do you want to pay for a Backlink? Is it a PR 6+ page? Otherwise I wouldn't pay. I had rather submit articles to the high PR directories with a BL. Might as well submit to PRWeb - highly visible site. Don't pay for BLs, build them. Or are you in rush to have BLs?
And buy from broker sites such as text ad links or link adage - the sellers are genuine and you won't have problem or doubts of being cheated.
You can limit the risk buy buying from a forum like on DP. You can see peoples iTrader feedback so you know what kind of reputation they have already.
So I am to assume that text link ads and link adage do not use javascript for the ads and they will actually count as backlinks? I've been getting confused on which ad services to use for what, there are so many of them!
www.text-link-ads.com are very good. They handle the links and make sure they stay in place. The links are search engine friendly. If you buy a lot of links from people on forums it can be hard to track. If you keep a spreadsheet you can check them or just trust the seller to keep them in place.
Neither of them serve ads for you. These are auction sites like eBay for example. You bid or purchase links from different individuals. The individuals place links on the websites that belong to them. There are contractual clauses on the sell or auction of the link/s. You can use either or both to find some diversified sites. Are you familiar with the fundamentals of BLing? No more then one BL from same IP, etc... If you have 5 PR7 BLs from same IP - only one or two will be credited or even none (meaning those BLs will be useless). Hence you should purchase links from few different sellers considering those links come from different IPs and C-Classes.
Wow, excellent information Bombaywala. I never knew that they should not come from the same IP. I will definitely keep an eye out for that, thanks!
This is only true if you have say 20,000 links from the same ip, otherwise it will not hurt you or your rankings. So having a 1,000 or 2 is nothing.
Having 20 thousand links from the same IP cannot hurt you. There is no way that many links would be found and counted towards even within 2 months. And if you don't link back, then it's not a problem.
You can try AdBrite too, they also have PR websites who auction out Adspaces for a day, week or so on. try doing this for a smaller period first see how that works out and then maybe you can go for a longer period.
I'll add my 2 cents for Linkworth. [Disclaimer: That's an affiliate link.] I'm both a "partner" who runs links from other sites (you get to approve them in advance) and someone who carefully buys links to my new sites. I wish the selection of sites to buy links from were better, but in some sectors, there are some good choices at attractive prices. They are intended for SEO purposes more than traffic so they do show up and get indexed. Like everything else it takes some time, but so far so good in my experience. Another nice feature is that you can convert earnings from link sales into cash for link buys.
