Has anyone got experience with cold-visiting businesses?

Has anyone got experience with this kind of marketing?
I'm planning to do it because I think it is more efficient than email marketing. I planning to visit accommodation businesses and selling/offer them my web service application. Email marketing is not working because I need to help them to install this application into their websites.I cannot find much information about this marketing method. Maybe someone here has done it.

My company is relying on this form of marketing and i can tell you for a fact that unless you got good sales people and a good portfolio you will be hitting a lot of closed doors.

People with experience in sales and connections to the business sector of the region are the ones that can bring you real $

    Good Luck!

I think you would have better luck finding an 8-5 job, or marketing online.
a lot of business do not want to be bothered with solicitors as they already
their plans and procedures in place, and the chances of you talking to
a decision maker is probably fairly slim at best.....

I would suggest you do some research to narrow down prospects first. Secondly, work the phone. If done well, by the time you are visiting, you would in the trail of a customer who needs your service.

At some point, a business may need to coldcall but once you start getting customers, dilligently build up your refferals. Good luck.

I had a short experience working with it. Was on an interview for such a job in my 17-18's and they put me on trial out in the wild with a cute girl as a guide. Long story short - her cuteness was not enough to make me stay more than a day there :) Its a hard and tiresome job and even with the right skills and attitude you will still get mostly doors in the nose.

Cold calling does work. However, it takes quite a bit of courage. You have to dress well and present yourself with confidence. You will get several "no's" sometimes before you get your first "yes."
