Just to keep it balanced, you should provide the links to the source materials you mentioned arguing against that whitepaper. From memory reading about this previously, there was a disparity in the results of test benchmarks vs real life performance though I cannot remember where that was mentioned.

Also, the 3 links you have in your signature:
The first one (The new IE8 is 11 years behind the standards or wrong. ) only discusses up to IE 7 and has no mention of IE 8.

The second link (But it works in IE! ) if you actually read through it, mentions most of the issues being fixed in progressive incarnations of IE7 and IE8.

The third link ( Security experts advise to not use IE ) is actually quite old from 2004 and things have moved on quite significantly from that time.

I don't because most of the people on DP are not technical enough to understand them. Though two are old, and one is currently being updated, they are still valid. Also, it's difficult to keep up with all such articles in the sig.

    Major oversights in IE8.
What does your browser claim to support?

One is the same site as in my sig, just a different page.

The only ever times I have had to use IE is when I have needed re-format my computer and it is the only browser.
Also to download from Microsoft.com :D

Firefox blows IE out of the water!

I think it would be pretty rare if someone will ever do that.
FF is pretty much stable, fast and huge amount of useful add-ons makes it really good one to beat anyhow. And well, cant really knock "chrome" out of the browser war as well.

Personally, I could not ever see going back to internet explorer after using firefox.

After I stopped using internet explorer, my system has been more stable and I have not had a single infection of adware - malware. When I was using ie, my computer would get infected with pop-up malware a couple of times a month.

Thanks for your opinion. I, along with 93% of all internet users will continue with IE. But thanks anyway!

The guy is obviously on a bizarre crusade of sorts and has no interest at all in facts and data - just the typical anti-Microsoft propoganda with absolutely no basis in factual data. I have no interest in trying to reason with the unreasonable.

No. Fact. More than what you offered.
Which shows how unaware you are since it's well known IE usage has dropped below 67% and has continued to drop almost every month for the last 4 years. See any report on internet browser usage.

Says the guy who uses Microsoft's whitepaper as evidence that Microsoft is correct while disputing 5 other 3rd party sources, some which show actual data. Talk about not wanting to look at the facts, I defy you to find any other 3rd party that can show any version of IE is more technically advanced overall than any other major browser. Read that carefully. I said ANY other browser.

You can't do it. You will fail.

    87Lakers,

Answer a few questions if you can. I'll start with an easy one. If IE8 is so wonderful, why can it not accept or display XHTML that's served as XHTML even though that's been around since 1998 and ALL other browsers can?

I'll wait for your technical response. I do have many, many more (that you won't be able to answer).

No I can't think of a reason to go back to internet explorer.

Even when I can think of something that IE comes with that Fire Fox doesn't out the box (like the ability to translate pages into a different language ), you can just find a plug in for it.

The only reason I can see using IE is if you need to test your web page to make sure everything still works for those who still use Explore

I tried using IE for the other day to give it a chance again. I found it was slower and had more hang ups. I'm sticking with Fire Fox
