The days of day trading your way to infinite wealth are long over. There is such short term volatility in the markets right now that is not advisable for anyone without considerable experience to venture into short term trading.

Back in 2001 I opened an e-trade account with $70. 4 months later I went on my first trip to South America off the money. :)

I wouldn't get involved much right now though.

I also trade every day using the CMC Marketmaker platform either fx mainly cable or indicies ukx and dax and its the volatility that you require as long you have volatility there are oppertunities to be had.I have 2 accounts with CMC the cfd and s/b one the latter is mainly used 95% of the time due to the fact that in the UK that all your profits is totally tax and capital gains free as far as i understand you folks in the US and the rest of the world dont have this legal loophole.

I doubt this is the time for stock investment. The world is in recession if you haven't noticed.

It make no odds really if the world is in a good space or a recession what you wants is movement it makes no odds if it is up or down as long as the price does not stay motionless you can make money. The art is getting on the right side of the movement because you can can go long and short these days and have done for many years.

We always wait till shop prices are low to buy stuff, so why not with stocks?

The world economy is in recession so prices are low, surely if someone is prepared to invest medium to long term the gains are worth it when the economy goes into recovery?

if your a long term buy and holder of stocks this is the best time in my opinion to buy blue chip shares in mining companies, banks etc as there alot cheaper then they used to be I bought shares in a spec mining company in this worldwide downturn and they havetripled:eek:

as for forex it's always a good day if your not greedy and stick to your system don't buy someone else system as every trader/investor is diffrent

I would say demo for 3-6months first and work out your own strategy of course live will be diffrent so be careful! I have traded forex for 4yrs shares for around 8yrs realestate 5yrs

I agree that its a great time to buy 'high quality' companies if you have a 5 year + timeframe. I was buying stock yesterday and I'm waiting for the markets to open so I can buy some more this morning. I think if you can handle short term losses and ignore all the noise there may be a lot of upside in 5 years.

Same here (except I use Capital Spreads rather than CMC because I prefer their customer service). I trade fx only, mainly Cable and Euro.
