I haven't and I'm not too sure if I want to, but I'm curious. Has anyone tried it? How did it turn out? For those who don't know what a turducken is, it's a Turkey stuffed with a Duck stuffed with a Chicken. (Google it) sounds kinda gross, and dangerous with the whole bird flu thing going around (hahaha) but intriguing none the less.
Never had one but these guys are pretty proud of theirs. http://www.geraldconrad.com/turducken/images/turducken18.jpg
I had a turducken this past thanksgiving. It was okay, but took forever to cook and warm up. It was an interesting novelty, but I think I'll just have a duck this year.
Yah, I've heard it's got a pretty specific taste and takes forever to cook! In either case, I think I'll stick to roast pig! I like to nibble on those crunchy little ears... yummy.
Nope. But we commonly made ballotines of all kinds of birds. Whole roast guinea hen with pheasant sausage, sage, madeira, apple; lemon, garlic & thyme-scented poussin, etc. It's a useful technique, to bone a bird out while leaving it whole, but marrying turkey, duck, chicken, well...just my take, but I'd rather stick to duck, or chicken, (not really big on turkey)... Paul By the way, Itsme - very nice looking roast! If any would like, a couple of duck recipes, if any love duck as much as I do: "http://www.a1-outdoors.com/outblog/category/outdoors-cooking/recipes/" And another couple: "http://ezinearticles.com/?Duck-Breast-Prosciutto&id=131450" "http://www.articledashboard.com/Article/Wild-Game-Recipe---Pan-Roasted-Duck-with-Corn-Crepes-and-Sage--Sour-Cherry-Sauce/12217"
I just grabbed that image from google... I didn't feel like hunting down one of my own. (but hey, they all look about the same )
