For me the issue started about a month or so ago. overnight they decided to suspend my account, which i later found out was because had more than one business in my house. Yes, guilty, I have a business, my wife has a seperate business. Turns out, NOW, that google suspended me because i had multiple businesses at one PHYSICAL address and multiple businesses with ONE phone number. After a month of getting advice on a google forum, I have had to dumb down the listings then delete them, then open a new google places account. the issue now is that google maps still has two businesses listed at my one address. obviously if maps has this info, it can pass it onto google places after I try and re do all of the places info (with diff addresses and phone numbers of course) and then it will suspend my new account also. after a few days it has now allowed me to 'in theory' delete the google maps and google places for one of the businesses (yes i deleted it from an account, but it must have memory of it from before). I am now waiting until it officially lets go of the data, so that i can reclaim my primary business and then wait a month for the verification postcard. Anyone tells me how great google is, I may start to dwindle in my enthusiasm ...Â
I would love to contact Google - but as anyone who is not paying for adwords has found, there are bugger all contact methods. You may as well give me a toll free number. there are not specific contact emails for this issue - that is why i have spent several months unraveling this mess. I am now just waiting until their system fully resets google maps and google places so i can start again ...
Yes, they called me to double check on stuff after they suspended it. They called my friend to check if he still exists after he wanted to delete the account. Since he picked up with the name of the company - they still have not deleted his account. Places are very weird. They call you know to check things out. 650 area code.
and so the saga continues ... after I was able to magically find a button for deleting the google maps, and I think provide feedback as to why I did, I got a phone call from someone with a heavy asian accent saying they were from google maps. They asked if I wanted to delete the map marker. I said yes and tried to explain that I had to so I could try and get my new google places account working. They seemed to understand and said that they would do it, That was a few days ago - maybe I have to wait for all the google servers to let go of the business name, and just keep going back into google places, like a chicken pecking at sand, and magically one day I can start reclaiming my businesses? A well oiled machine!
I think I would do a DNS flush to clean out any old mapping just to be on the safe side. If you do not know how, just "Google it". Pretty straight forward commands.
thanks for the reply, I did the DNS flush as you suggested but still have two business listings picked up based on my home phone. Guess its just another day of waiting, peck peck ...
