Has anyone been successful in submitting website to DMOZ recently?

Not going anywhere with my 10+ odd submissions of various websites.
Some of them are already on No. 1. While submitting I do take care of all guidelines after all these activities are my bread and butter.

    Any clue?

DMOZ I believe has extended its timelines for new sites. Depending on your site it might take anywhere between 6 months to 1+ years to get listed.

Having added a few sites recently, I can guarantee sites are being added, but those ten sites are waiting along with possibly 100,000+ other site suggestions, and with roughly 6,000 current volunteer editors, spread out over 600,000 categories, it's impossible to predict when we might run across one of them.

It could be in several days, or a couple of years. Kind of like predicting which leaf will fall off the tree first, we just don't know.

Theres been activities on certain categories and sub categories but due to lack of editors they could not cope with submissions.

There are pending sites especially in the category which my new sites are best fitted. I see that my site Paraiso have more content than those listed. My sites maybe are tagged with a DNL. Ahhh well, Cest La Vie.

Becoming an editor is a process rather than just a request. It sometimes takes several tries, if the information requested isn't provided, or someone is seen to be less than honest, or the applicant doesn't seem to understand the type of sites that belong in the category they're requesting to edit. A rejection is just the beginning of the process.

Many sites before Jan 2007 were lost in our crash, yes, please do submit once more.

LOL. :D Do you mean senior editors are afraid of competition that someone can be more dishonest than them?

Didn't know of crash. They should back it up it is all database after all or something more complex.

Why don't you share your tricks on how to become DMOZ editor which might help whole humanity to contribute towards the great cause of Open Directory Project. :)

Take the post you quoted from him and reverse it...

    Fill in the application completely.
    Be honest.
Understand the guidelines, including the feel of the sites that are within the category you are applying too.
    If you fail, try-try again.

This must be one of the worst advice ever. :D

Where do you find these things? It takes about 15 minutes to write an application which has a 90% chance of being accepted and the process doesn't include understanding the "guideline" or "feel of the sites". :)

Not neccessarily. It could take from several days to a couple of years for the site to get reviewed. It depends on how many editors want to edit in that area and how many site suggestions have been submitted there. :)

    Ok, I will, :).

Total honesty, demonstrating a good grasp of the scope of the category applying to, the ability to follow instruction, a good grasp of the English language (for English speaking areas of the Directory), and the ability to understand and write ODP compliant titles and descriptions, and good spelling.
    Those can be found here:
    http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/describing.html

That's only my opinion, I'm not a meta editor who approves new editors. :)

Here are the Guidelines we use:
    http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/

This is also available to the public:
    http://www.dmoz.org/erz/

    And this:

Everything is right out in the open, no secrets, :).

I submitted to the following area

    regional/europe/uk/parking/airports

over 5 months ago, and i've still not heard. I would love to hear of anyone who is successful, especially in this area.

I would love to become an editor, but would be worried of conflict of interests

    Everything within the United States:
    Regional/North_America/United_States

But, I do not do favors, and any offers to me will result in being banned from the Directory. I'm sure you didn't really mean that, :D.
