Has anyone noticed if their sites have had a drop in traffic for MSN? A couple of mine have. Sites are still indexed and ranking. I was wondering if it has anything to do with the switch to Live.
I read your post, looked up, and low and behold my website is nowhere. What's happening? Traffic zero past week.
i really now don't consider MSN as serious search engine. It is just search engine for presense with Yahoo and Google. totally non-serious team at MSN. huge drop from last year... this year is worst with MSN.
My traffic appears to be back now. I agree that MSN is not so good, but when my new sites get sandboxed by google, MSN still brings in the dollars.
As wmburg said, a bug in the switch from MSN to live.com this week meant that MSN wasn't sending any referrer details. The traffic was still the same but the visitors will have shown up as direct traffic rather than MSN traffic.
Would you say this change of traffic has something to do with change of rank from msn.com and live.com?
I have good rankings for most of my keywords at msn, but they bring 10% of the traffic my bad rankings bring from google. I don't do any SEO for MSN
There have been some problems with MSN not showing refferals when they reffer to your site. Web Pro world has a good thread on it. It is a problem known by MSN. Typical symptoms, Your ranking in the search engine is the same for your normal seach terms, but you do not see any refferals in your stats. this started on 9-14-06 when they switched to the live search.
