I personally think joomla is far more best solution if you want to built a website that has future possibilities of getting huge, Firstly wordpress has alot of limitation like module position, it can not be achieved without core hack and 3rd party plugins, the widget seems to be not helping some times.

On the other hand Drupal is slight complicated for those who are just getting started with cms, in my opinion it's perfect for developers but not for end users,

And now as the joomla 3x is released it has far more better seo, content management, template system (bootstrap) and other things that makes it best among all.

Please note : i am not that expert developer and above is my personal opinion, please do your own research before making your choice as per your need.

Thanks Sarah_23, I have always work with PHP using notepad++ for all my projects, the last time I used Joomla was around 2009 or thereabout. Recently I was getting lot of request from client to build there website on Joomla. Beside from the beauty of joomla and its new feature. I love the fantastic back end administrator portal. In my case I will use wordpress for Blogging website because i have been watching out for top ten website built with joomla with google search engine, haven't found one yet , joomla or drupal for other web type depending on my client request.

I love to hear others opinion.

What leads you to believe those sites are using Joomla? FYI, Joomla is stuffed up pile of shit. So its bootstrap.

Agreed that they both suck, but (allegedly) eBay uses Joomla for an internal project, B&N supposedly uses it for their Nook developer site, supposedly Ikea used it for two Middle East sites (whether it still does or not, who knows).

If I hated someone, I might recommend Joomla.

That would be such a long list. :p

You have to choose a CMS based upon needs. Well, you also need to decide if a CMS is appropriate. People choose WordPress because of what they are told and not because of what they need. Most sites using it could probably be made as just static HTML or more simply in another CMS. WordPress cannot really be compared to Joomla or Drupal. It pales in comparison as a content management system (its access control is rubbish, custom content types blow and I am struggling to find a positive, sorry). As a blog, it's quite good though.

Joomla looks pretty, but requires more work to get it functioning well. Drupal functions well out-of-the-box, especially with version 7.

Drupal has modules such as Fields (part of core), Panels, Views, CTools, Pathauto, Context, Display Suite and similar which bring it so much flexibility and make it easy to quickly develop a site. Drupal not only caches pages (and blocks), but also JS and CSS (minify, combine and compress). Caching functionality is part of core, but also some modules (e.g. Views) offer the option to cache things they create.

I can't think of a reason why I would choose Joomla over Drupal. It's fine for simple needs, but so are WordPress and pure HTML sites. Joomla has better access control than WordPress, but sucks just as bad for custom content types.

I'm currently working on a site that has quite a "complex" structure. With Joomla or WordPress, I would have needed to resort to doing things in the theme that shouldn't be, or making my own plugins. Drupal is saving me tons of time as Entity Relationship, Taxonomy, Views, Fields/Content Types and Blocks mean I can do it all in the administration section.

Really some times it's hard to control custom content in joomla, specially in case of complex website. Thanks alot, i will start working on Drupal in order to understand it in more depth. Thank you Ryan
