please note the results of the stimulus program
On a national level there have been 29,585,530,744.00 USD spent on 26285 contracts creating 32,694.89 jobs which comes down to 1,125,567.08 U.S.D. per job.

It has created less jobs than have been lost on that particular day

Not exactly true. The lion's share of that money went to State Governments. Though much of it went to non-employment related expenses, a large amount went to shore up state payrolls. The teachers union in California was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Federal stimulus in my state, without which many teachers would have lost their jobs. It is one of the reasons that, while jobs in the private sector are still being lost, the government has been hiring throughout the entire mess.

On the Titanic, the rich people all got a seat on a life boat. In this recession, it was government and unions workers, and in particular, unionized government workers. Its also amazing that the average government wage is now ~70k/year, where as the average private sector wage is under 50k/year. What we all need to do is go work for the government.
