But I was wondering, on general business how should I promote a site to make the most money off of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows being released in June? Should I offer a free book, and collect people's email addresses and then ship a book to one random person? Will Amazon Affiliate program offer anything? mmm...good domain, bit long though! Id try amazon or another affiliate program that will give you fairy good returns. Also do a reviews section etc to make more unique content. A spatter of adsense probably wouldnt go amiss either.
Eh, he should be alright. I don't think they'll get in trouble for it. Offering a free book the day it comes out would definitely help, especially since getting one is going to be hard. Offering three, though, would be your best bet if you could get three.
Change your domain now. Warner bros will issue you a cease and desist letter threatening legal action. They hold the copyright to "HARRY POTTER". You can not use the term in any domain name. Best ways to get around this are use "HP" instead, or use harry potter as a subdomain, or directory. I and i am sure many other have aswell made this mistake. Change your domain now to avoid problems later. I think you may also have problems with "DEATHLY HALLOWS" also as I suspect this is also probably copyrighted.
I would take parts out of the book and put it on the site for ppl to get a feel of the book, amazon affiliate and reviews .
Yes they are very rigid on this. I was into a debate on another site last year about this. Anything Harry P is going to get a letter in time I am sure unless you make it a fan site without ads or revenue and then its a risk. I have a domain regged dec 12, pre TM file (dec 21st for dh), but will let it, the domain name, expire. The book title was regged Dec 21/07 so any use is tm issue
Exactly. They may start with a simple cease and desist order but they will protect their property, so unless you have the financial and legal resources to protect the work you invest before they find you be careful.
