Any of you Brits seen this film yet? Its only been open in the UK for a few weeks. Apparently, the US release has been delayed to some time in 2010. Basically, "Harry Brown" is the story of a retired Marine who lives in a run-down neighborhood, and ends up kicking some whoop ass on the neighborhood thugs. If this sounds like the plot of "Gran Torino" (Clint Eastwood), maybe that's why the US release date is being postponed. Also, another recent vigilante movie called "Law Abiding Citizen" was just in theaters.....so maybe they want to give this genre a short rest B-4 unleashing it on American audiences. Initial reviews at Rotten Tomatoes give it "Fresh" rating (77).
I watched it online and actually found it a really good film. One of the best I have seen for a while so I would recommend it.
I guess I'm really picky but I won't watch movies on a computer.....not enough pixels or screen size to enjoy the film. Saw "Gran Torino" on my daughter's laptop (a Macbook with the highest resolution screen) and was very disappointed by the darkness of the screen images. Refresh rate is really lousy. Motion and complex scenery does not look right. (we have 1080p HDTV Panasonic Plasma 42".....)
