Hardcode the Referral URL

    I wasn't sure which section this should be placed in and it was only really a passing thought;

    I was wondering if it would be possible to hardcode a refferal URL into your browser so that every website you visit thinks the referral URL is the website you've hardcoded into your browser?

    This is probably very much frowned upon but it would be a creative method of spreading your sites around on another website owners stats programs. :eek:

    Quite an ebil idea you have. Since you're already in the dark side, I might as well give you all the help you need :)

    If you intend to do it on a small scale - one way you can change the referrer field is by using a proxy - try proxomitron. But I don't think it's worth the effort. As you already know it'll be frown upon especially if the referrer is a personal blog site. Try this instead:

    - build a fake search engine or directory site
    - gather 1 billion urls
    - write a script to visit these sites (get robot.txt) with your url as referrer)
    - wait for curious and grateful visitors to visit your site (and click on adsense)

    Good luck.
