Hard to rank for Student Loans - I DONT THINK SO!!

hey guys..

i just bought this domain: studentloanconsolidation .ca (Adsense shows $48/cpc)


Reason why, is that this example has shed a light of hope for me.

the term STUDENT LOAN APPLICATION people assume its HARD TO RANK FOR.

but look at this, PR0 site out-ranks many PR6+ sites?? (if you are from Canada as i am, you will see that the url www.studentloanapplication.ca/ ranks #1)

WHY!?? Poor Targeting from other sites? ..anyone know?

 

Wow nice. In the US it doesn't rank for me. A lot of it could be because of the .CA domain name. In Yahoo Site Explorer, it doesn't have any in links whatsoever. It is not at all surprising that studentloanapplication.ca ranks #1 for the phrase "student loan application" in Google.ca. The reasons are several but:

1) The domain name EXACTLY matches the search phrase in this case. Google gives a big boost to exact match domain names because they figure the user may be looking for a site with that name.
2) I haven't bothered looking but I'd guess that other sites linking to them either link to them with "Student Loan Application", "StudentLoanApplication", "StudentLoanApplication.com" or "http://www.studentloanapplication.com" as the link text. So the link text for the majority of its external inbound links likely contain the keyword phrase as well.

So it's no wonder it ranks first for THAT keyword phrase.

But as you can see here, I doesn't rank worth a crap for "student loans".

 

CANONICAL: yeah i noticed those items you listed as well.. but actually he also ranks for other words as well... he has like 300+ incoming links..which 100 are from 1 site - foooter link. OH WELL I WILL SEE IF I CAN GET GOOD RESULTS LIKE HIM.

 

There is likely some decent traffic for "student loan consolidation" so that should be your priority keyword phrase and relatively easy to rank for.

i personally would be going for "student loan bankruptcy" , "refinance student loan" , "escape student loan" that kind of thing..

 

SEOibiza = those kwywords you suggested have very low search volume (500/month) not sure if it will be viable option? why did you suggest those?

keyword rich domain, that's why it ranks so well. But does it get any traffic?
