The rule: To get likes = You need to have likes from other established members https://forums.digitalpoint.com/help/established I see some DP members already have 10, 20, 50, 100 or more likes and I wonder how they got it? because when DP rebooted on Sunday with it's new version if everyone started with 0 likes then no one can give or receive likes in practical right? because all are in the same 0 state so you can't give or receive likes because you're not a established member! may be I'm missing something. From the other hand if DP expect to increase the quality of posts and to encourage members to help others specially newbies then it's not happening with above rule, for an example, newbies in DP often ask questions and request help so if you're knowledgeable about the specific matter you'll answer it but no matter how useful or important your answer is he can't like your post! because he's not a established member who has 3 likes, so in practical someone might answer the newbie like in the old DP version days but this new DP rule will not encourage anyone to help newbies, instead it encourage to help established members because they are the ones who can give their hands to help get in to the 3 likes boat. So I would like to suggest to let any DP member to give likes to other members if their post is really helpful.
Sorry, that's most definitely not going to happen. You don't think 3 people will just "trade likes" to all get each other established without actually doing anything constructive or offering anything useful?
Thanks for the reply, actually I didn't mean something like that, and you didn't explain how other established members got those likes for the first time? and you didn't reply to my question
Thank you for making it clear and what about the other question? and established members are someone who's with knowledge often they do not need help from others but newbies are the ones who need help often and by helping newbies you wan't get anything, I mean according to the new DP rule.
And that's exactly the problem that got us to where we are right now. You (and other users) think you have to get something out of it in order to help anyone.
Sorry to say this but again you have misunderstand me and without answering the question you've turned it in to some where else. And at this point I have another question as you mention before so the old reputation system suddenly became likes in the new DP system for some members but for the sellers and buyers who were at old DP BTS section for years and with good positive Itrader your DP system turned them in to nothing and now they need to collect new likes to get back in to the BTS section? sounds unfair right?
Not really, no... iTrader does not make someone a good user to the site... it just means they can buy and sell stuff (which we don't care about).
What about the posts they have already posted before these changes has taken place? there are users who had contribute something useful to the forum at the past. so why are you using this new rule against old DP members instead it must be applied for new comers.
well as a big buyer here who spend $$$$$ a month buying services, its really frustrating, nowadays i spend only few minutes on forum rather than hours as before... when buyers go awat i dont think there will be much market for sellers too..
How do you think some users had thousands of existing likes? They WERE converted from the old system. You can still buy anything sellers are selling...
What about exchange some itrader with some LIKE..We know that our repoutation is built by positive itrader before..
Hmm...i think it's possible . Another side i like with this 'new look' forum. Less of Spammer.. Is there any policy change in the next days?
I have 265 posts in "Introductions" forum. I'll never receive any *credit* for this. I wanted to give something back to DP so I decided to try and welcome newcomers here. And here you all are complaining about having to get 3 likes by helping one or two members......cheez!
The only suggestion I have is that maybe those who have been here for more than half a decade be promoted to established members atleast (including me )
I dont like the new rule, now people who want to reply on marketplace thread need 3likes to ask people who want to buy/sell a question, i dont think that is a good idea
