Thankgiving Day is an American Holiday that is celebrated the 4th Thursday of November every year. It is a day to take time out from work to spend time with your family and give thanks for all we have. We do so in the form of a large feast, traditionaly including a Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, among other things. Thanksgiving in America commererated the first meal shared by the Pilgrims and Indians in the new world as they came together to give thanks for the bountiful feast they each provided and shared as one. Today we celebrate that first Thanksgiving by doing the same, sharing with family and friends and giving thanks for those family and friends we all have. It's a special time here and for many the one and only time we all see and or sit down with loved ones we do not normally get to see or spend time with. Some people travel thousands of miles to share that one meal with their families. It's not a religious holiday, so to the best of my knowledge just about everyone celebrates it here. I had a great deal of fun trying to explain the meaning of this holiday to my 3 year old. He sure understands Santa though! Happy Thanksgiving to those that do...
For me instead this is my first Thanksgiving in America, but I am not American. Due to the pressure from my wife, I'll probably have to spend most of the next ones too, but I don't mind, I just can't feel that involved for now... Independence day was worse, I hope I can avoid as much as I can of those July 4s! JK, I didn't mind, but I am already so sad that I am not going to be with my family for Christmas for the first time in my whole life...
