Ramadan is a time of introspection and self-evaluation. It is time to remember and help those who are less fortunate; a time to seek forgiveness and forgive others; a time to express love and to rejuvenate family and friendship ties; a time for community outreach; a time to foster understanding and to appreciate the solidarity and support offered by other faith-groups. Every year, local Muslims around the world invite Non-Muslims to share a collective Iftar- evening feast to break the Fasting- where they share a wide range of ethnic cuisines. Let us Unite for Peace!!
Happy Ramzan to all friends on DP... Ramzan is a very hard month, pushes the body to the limit, almost back-breaking and stressful. You may not eat food or during any liquid, including water, during the course of the day. You may not smoke, you may abstain from sexual activity during this month. Food and water can be taken only when the sun is down. Once the sun rises (around 5 am in the morning here), you may not eat or drink till the sun sets in the evening. This is a month of self-retrospection, self-control and patience. People learn to have complete control over their body, and it inculcates a sense of discipline. When you sacrifice food and water for the command of God, and you see others doing the same, you feel proud of your brothers. Sometimes, it can be very hard and torturous, but it is God's command, and you still do it. People pray a lot in this month. This is a special month indeed... I wish everyone Happy Ramzan...
The fasting part seems especially hard. I can't imagine people not eating tasty food willingly for long periods. I feel that any time is a good time to be happy and to introspect and self evaluate. Don't feel compelled to restrict such things to christmas, new year, ramadan and other such occasions.
okay Mubarik or Mubarak? coz where I live they say Mubarak... same thing again? I'm a bit confused atm
I believe Mubarak is the closest spelling to that of Arabic, it varies a bit throughout the languages, but no big deal.
Today was the 1st day of Ramadan. Though in Lahore Pakistan the fast was for more than 12 hours. It really reminded the feeling of hunger and thirst of those who are less fortunate. I have promised to pay my earnings through adsense in this holy month of Ramazan to the deserving. Best of Luck to all of you!
