Happy Ramadan to everyone... I am feeling so happy that Ramadan is here.... it give alot of pleasure and satisfaction If the moon sighted then we'll have it today.
Happy Ramadan to everyone who are Muslim.....Anyway I do wish that war in Mindanao Philippines would be finished on this ramadan day...
I like watching them, I'm really interested in different cultures. I'm English but I live in a city in Turkey so we get the 'gypsy' drummers, that come around towards the end of Ramadan begging for money. I'm told that in the villages, the drummers even sing when they drum..that I would love to see. I noticed many people not taking part in Ramadan this year, many people were eating and smoking in the streets today. It's getting harder every year because it's getting earlier and earlier. It's very hot here in Turkey right now. It's not healthy to go without water in this heat. I couldn't do it, so kudos to them.
I've experienced that Turk's are not very religious, I've been in Turk embassy functions many time.... they even drink (beer, wine) freely which is Haram (not allowed) in Islam.
Turkey is anyway a secular country. Probably the worst in accordance to Islamic practice. But then again I see a lot of major improvement by their leaders nowdays so you can't tell. Hopefully Turkey will change
I had never heard of Ramdan. Though when i heard it for the first time, I thought it was a Hindu festival because of the mentioning of Ram in that word. I had heard about Lord Rama from various mythological stories about he being a god. Thats why i thought of it as a hindu festival. I had only heard of Ramzan.... Can anybody tell me what's it celebrated for and why it is different from ramzan?
Its a actually a Month from Islamic Calender, the main festival is Eid-ul-fitar that comes right after Ramadan, its a gift for Muslims, to read more about the Ramadan please read the wikipedia
