The official is Indian National Calendar (New Year starts on March 21-22), with commonly used Gregorian Calendar (1st January).

The people of India use around 30 calendar, as a result, there are many New Year's Days. For a good reason, government ignores the religious, regional calendar's date of occasions, and only consider Gregorian and Indian national calendar as for national holiday etc.

Here's wishing all Gujaratis a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I do not think the whole of India celebrates New Year today. It is mainly observed as New Year mainly in Gujarat.

Please correct me if I am wrong.....

    Regards,

    RightMan
