Well, she’s the latest tween craze and everybody wants to see her. Her music is so catchy, upbeat and deals with “real life stuff†that even parents like her. Besides, she still seems to be pretty well-grounded and level-headed – lets hope that doesn’t change!! The only problem, it’s impossible to get concert tickets unless you are willing to pay hundreds to thousands of dollars. Not all of us are millionaires nor choose to spoil our children. Let’s face it, my first concert was with my brother and his girlfriend for my 16th birthday to see the Bee Gees – Gosh, how embarrassing. I didn’t see the next one until I was 18 (Journey) – yes, my taste got better. However, the issue at point is how can we, as parents, prevent scalpers from buying up the concert ticket market and asking us to pay these exorbitant prices? I understand that Disney wanted to keep ticket prices relatively low (less than $65). The latest I heard is that one floor seat ticket was going for $2,500! Would you pay that? Something legally needs to be done with the scalper situation and fast! If our legal system is going to allow scalpers to conduct business, then price limits need to be set! I urge all who are interested in seeing live concerts to contact your State Representatives to lobby for legislation disallowing scalping of tickets.
