Halfway to payout, but earnings still slow

I just hit the $50 mark in adsense earnings since I received the PIN and phone verification email. The only problem is that it took a whole year (I started in April '06) to reach this point. Is it normally this slow when just starting out?

I see many posts here saying that a site made at least that much in the first month, so am I really off to a slow start?

A slow start yes, but you have to build and build, then the results will come.

 

yes you are, $50 is not much of an accomplishment for a year even in third world countries. either quit now or drastically change something unless you are doing this for non monetary reasons (fun)

 

I agree fully. $50 in one year... does that even cover hosting costs/man hours/stress? Barely?

 

$50 is quite low. I earned $77 in the first month last year. And that is pretty low.

 

I'm a couple of dollars off 50 and started in late January as a person with no idea how to make a website and no idea what adsense was. I'm averaging over a dollar a day now, two dollars on a good day.

 

What traffic do you have 5 vizitators/day or what ?

Well its very slow for me. I earned $50 in first two months with less traffic and now I am very close to payouts. But April will be end in 9 days and I need some high paying keywords to get $100 next month.
