Just wondering if it is OK to use half of a trademark in a domain.

For example, instead of using RedCrossKeyword.com I would use CrossKeyword.com

    Is that legal?

It really depends on the trademark and if the site has something to do with the trademark holder or their type of business.

Depends on usage as well I would think. If you use half of a trademark but appear to be doing something along those lines as the trademark holder, it could be seen as a violation.

I don't really think that this will be any problem! You are nowhere trying to use their trademark domain. It is just an applied for which must be fine.

i think its a grey area and if the trade mark holder tries to take you up on it you might find yourself in legal arguments something that should be avoided where possible.
