Saudis' role in Iraq insurgency outlined
Sunni extremists from Saudi Arabia make up half the foreign fighters in Iraq, many suicide bombers, a U.S. official says.

By Ned Parker, Times Staff Writer
    July 15, 2007

BAGHDAD — Although Bush administration officials have frequently lashed out at Syria and Iran, accusing it of helping insurgents and militias here, the largest number of foreign fighters and suicide bombers in Iraq come from a third neighbor, Saudi Arabia, according to a senior U.S. military officer and Iraqi lawmakers.

About 45% of all foreign militants targeting U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians and security forces are from Saudi Arabia; 15% are from Syria and Lebanon; and 10% are from North Africa, according to official U.S. military figures made available to The Times by the senior officer. Nearly half of the 135 foreigners

Guess the recent push to blame Iran will lose a little steam over this...

The 19 terrorist hijackers that hit the towers came from Saudi Arabia, U.A.E.
    Yet, Bush went in Iraq.
The talebans come from Pakistan (or may be even Saudi Arabia). Yet Bush sent the troops in Afghanistan.

Yet Bush sent troops to Afghanistan

Not a word about all the terrorist actions by Saudi citizens.

Poor Lorien, until now he only had to kiss Israel ass but because of all the money that is coming from Saudi Arabia to Republicans, he has to kiss their ass too. :D

Just correcting the record, troll. Did I say anything that was incorrect? Trained in afghanistan. Right? Does the reality of their training offend you in some way?

When do I kiss SA ass, gworld? I have said in the past that SA is a haven for terrorism and I don't support their regime. But, keep trolling. You are doing a great job tonight!

It just takes some time. It took about 10 years before kissing Israel's ass became official policy of Republican party and the way Saudis are pouring money in to the Republican party including Bush, probably it will take about 5-6 years before you start kissing Saudi's ass as part of your duty. :D

US wouldnt dare attack Saudi Arabia. SA has the world's largest reserves of oil and moreover has some of the richest leaders in the world.

US probably will attack them in 30 years when oil is running low....wonder what the excuse will be?

It is ironic that Kissinger represents Saudi Arabia and is responsible for the Iraq war at the same time as Cheney's close adviser, sounds like a major scam to raise oil prices for his largest client to me.

According to Democrats, it was war for oil, thus it's making SA the country of choice.
Why would US attack on SA when oil is running low?

Suddenly gworld is interested in a word about terrorists? Good morning America! I love irony in the morning.

Perhaps you'd like to bomb mecca? At best, maybe we could setup a Jewish bistro there?

Of course, some forget that SA is an ally. That SA has requested our protection. That SA is fighting the same terrorists that some here willingly defend. Wait, nevermind, that explains it. SA is against terrorists too, so it stands to chance why some would be against them.

so first you claim that I -am- kissing SA ass; now you claim I -will- be eventually. That's an interesting change of position.

Care to actually add anything to this thread or is more trolling on the menu?

This thread is bound to get "HOT"........

SA is representative of a part of the world very few understand or want to understand........

It is easy to "Bash Bush" and the "Republicans", because it is an uncomplicated thing to blame the USA, versus holding those who are terrorists accountable for their own actions without any modifiers.........."they are evil, BUT.... and so on....

SA has been a bastion of crazies. This is nothing new to the Middle East. It is a region that has been in turmoil, long before we were ever a country or there was a need for oil by anybody.

We often look upon them with Western eyes and many say "Can't we just talk to them"...........noble, but shows a total disregard for what Binnie and Co are TELLING us!

I know of an Physical Therapist and his wife, a Medical Doctor, both are Egyptian and fled from there to the USA because they are Christian. Talk about having some strong beliefs about the whole region.....you should talk to him

Take Bush and the Republicans OUT of the equation. Look at what has been happening in the region for years.......

Like it or not, it is the collision of two radically different cultures.

Radical/Fascist Islam versus the rest of the World.

I don't know why everyone chooses to ignore what these guys are telling us in their videos...........

Guess it is easier just to blame Bush or someone else.

The solution to this problem is not pretty. It involves the killing of the terrorists whether they be in the Philippines or elsewhere.

Come to think of it, why are we in the Philippines, there is no oil there! (I am being sarcastic)........

Don't be so smug as to thing that they could never win.

    They could.

Read your history about the Greek and Roman empires (not saying that we are imperialists, just need to understand the dynamics of when powerful civilizations fall).

God Bless the Troops around the world who are brave enough to stand up to the terrorists......(how about those Canadians, kicking some butt in Afghanistan)!

    Ok, those are my thoughts.

I am sure others will have theirs......it will be interesting to see how many people put blame where it is really due...on the terrorists themselves.

What most people do not understand is the fact that when you raise the price of something as oil has been sent to world record prices, people are MORE WILLING TO FIGHT FOR IT.

This is why terror is increasing and why a wise man said, the love of money, is the root of all evil.

Good post Jack. Very much agreed about "blaming America." That's why most here do it so often. It takes no skill.

Nice to see some rationale thought :)

I'd have to agree with Jack as well.
Anthony, AGS and the others seem to avoid thinking towards this way, and blindly blame their government and those who are incharge of it. It always was and will be the easiest way. Something gets fucked up - the government is to blame.
Sometimes the blame is given to those who are to blame, but many times it is given as a poor excuse and without a rational thought.
