I'm sure you have alot of questions, so i'll post the faq from the site.

You can visit Alex Tew's Million Dollar homepage at http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com

and My half a million dollar homepage at http://www.halfamilliondollarhomepage.com

The site launched two days ago.

    1. Hasn't this already been done?

Yes. It has. In 2005 Alex Tew created The Million Dollar Homepage. The catch? Sell 1,000,000 tiny little pixels for $1 dollar a piece to make a grand total of 1,000,000 dollars. His reason? He needed new socks.. oh.. and
    money for University.

    2. Then why are you doing it?

After hearing what Alex had accomplished, I was intrigued so I did some research. Did you know there have been Hundreds of knock offs of Alex's idea, including mine? But the more I thought about it, the more I couldn't help but think - "What if someone still wanted to take place in the 'pixel' idea?" What if potential advertisers came along at a later date and saw his site, and thought "Man, we missed out." Alex's site is all sold out. And everyone else is extremely unoriginal and just seems to be copying and pasting Alex's code trying to make some quick cash. So I thought to myself Why not provide people who still want to purchase lifetime pixel space, with a site that's actually serious about keeping itself up, and dedicated to providing an actual time capsule for everyone to participate in.

So that's precisely what I'm doing. I'm approaching this from a completely serious standpoint, and providing a completely serious unoriginal portal for people who would like to participate in what I'm calling the "Official Half a Million Dollar Homepage." I'm also using the catchy slogan, "Make internet history the second time around." See? I'm not even original with my slogan, but frankly, I don't care. :)

Well, I do because I don't want to be portrayed as a total rip. But honestly I really want to provide users that may have come along at a later date, a second chance to participate in exactly what Alex has dubbed, an "Internet Time Capsule."

    3. As Alex has put it, "What's the Idea?"

Well also as Alex has said, It's simple. His idea was to sell 1,000,000 pixels for 1$ a piece in attempt to raise money for University. His reason? He doesn't want a huge student debt. Mine.. sell 1,000,000 pixels for $0.50 cents a piece in hopes to raise money for university, and I also don't want to run a huge student debt. :]

The rules are pretty simple. There are 1,000,000 pixels for sale on the homepage. ANYONE is welcome to purchase the pixels. You can link the pixels to any site you'd like, as long as you keep it pretty clean (this is a time capsule you know, and we don't want it filled with smut). Pixels are $0.50 cents a piece, and the minimum amount you can purchase is 10x10, or 100 pixels. That equates to $50.00 per 10x10 block. Reason being, as Alex has again previously stated, anything smaller wouldn't be legible, and it would be hard to distinguish what the ad actually says.

Now you may think to yourself.. Well why should I spend $50.00 To get advertising on your site? Well it's simple. I venture to say that this is the only other SERIOUS Time Capsule 'ad' site on the web. I guarantee you, that once you buy your ad, it will remain on this page for a lifetime. Although 5 years is a bit easier, I think lifetime is more appropriate for the reason being this is a "Time Capsule" after all, and I want everyone through the generations to look back and see it, as well as see what was going on in society at the time.

    4. Your site looks ALOT like Alex's, are you sure you didn't copy paste his code?

Yes, yes it does. Reason being I want the two to look as closely alike as possible, at least template wise, accept with different colors. I am really hoping to make this the "Second Internet Time Capsule Pixel Page" kind of thing. So I wanted them to look similar to make it more official in a sense.

However, alot of the code and graphics are custom coded although I have examined Alex's source to achieve certain effects, like the 3 color background/foreground/pagecontent.

    5. So, what's your plan?

Well, honestly I don't quite know. I know I plan to submit lots and LOTS and I mean LOTS of articles, to lots and lots of directories in an effort to promote the site. As well as submit it to Press all over the country. As Alex counted on I am also counting on viral marketing to bring in most of the traffic. I've also realized, for all your trolls out there, that Alex's success could of been entirely situational, and he could of "Just gotten lucky" as some would say. I realize that, and I'm prepared. I'm willing to take as long as is needed to get this site up and off the ground, for Alex, it took 5 months. There's no telling how long it will take this time around. But either way, I'm ready.

Strategically though, the phrase "Million Dollar Homepage" is basically in our domain name. Half a "Million Dollar Homepage." So if all goes well the major search engines like Google, and Yahoo, and MSN will all work to our advantage in the sense that when people search Million Dollar Homepage, this site will follow close behind in results. Which will not only encourage users to visit the site, but will again, make it look official.

    6. Can we have a little info about you?

Sure. I'm Stephen Gilbert, and I was born in 1990. I am currently 18 years old, and I am attending Belmont University in the fall as a Religion Major. I live in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and I drink slim fast even though I'm not heavyset, and I am very interested in the business world. However when I "Grow Up" as they call it, I want to be a professor. :) I too have also heard of huge student debts when finishing your college, and I can't bear the thought of having to answer to some man in a suit once month to pay College Loans for the following 15 years of my life proceeding college. I'm hoping that this will be successful and Half a Million Dollars will take care of it. But even then, if I just got 80,000 (which is only 160,000 pixels) which is how much Belmont costs for 4 years, I'd be pretty content with that too. Even though I'd need to find out another way to pay for graduate school, because I have every intention of attending. :)

    7. Got Proof that your attending College?

Sure do. :) Although my Belmont Acceptance letter is at my Father's house (I live on my own with 4 roommates) I will have to drive over there and get it. So Look for the picture coming soon.

    8. What would you do with Half a Million Dollars ($500,000) anyway?

Well, my family never was a "wealthy family" as some would call it. We did without alot of the time. Which was okay, I'm sure there's lots of families out there that had it worse. But what I would like to do is pay for an entire family vacation, even though my parents are divorced, but i think bringing the entire family together from both sides AT LEAST once will be a really really good bonding experience. Although I'm not sure where we would go yet.

I Would also donate 10% to my church Life Assembly, which is a really great church, to fund whatever they see fit. Whether it be paying off our new building and what not or funding a missions trip to Bolivia etc etc.

I would also like to completely pay off Undergraduate and Graduates school, and find somewhere or something to invest in. I would probably also buy my mom something really really nice because I love her, even after all we've been through. :]

    9. What's the advantage of purchasing pixels here.. and not somewhere else?

Well, for starters, if you purchase pixels here.. they remain here for a lifetime. The site will stay up as long as I'm alive, your guaranteed that. Also, alot of the other sites that offer pixels don't seem to be as serious as I am about it. They seemed to have just copy and pasted code from Alex's site, and then just let it sit eventually giving up on the project. I promise I will not stop this project until all pixels are purchased, and I promise they will remain up for my lifetime. This IS a time capsule after all. You can browse and shop around for other pixel sites if you'd like, but alot of them haven't been updated recently.

So a quick rundown, You spend $50 dollars, You get a link to your site for lifetime, on a serious time capsule.

    10. How long will the site be online?

As I've previously stated (if you've been reading) if you purchase pixels they will remain in this "time capsule" for many many years. Unless I die really early, In which case I will have already paid off the Hosting Company for a number of years to keep my end of the deal.

    11. Well, why do I have to buy 100 pixels at minimum?

Well it's simple, Anything smaller than a 10x10 square would be indistinguishable, and even though I'd like to sell in a smaller amount, it's just not possible

    12. This was posted on Alex's site - "Why don't you get a job?"

I've got one tyvm. Hehe. Although I wouldn't say an 18 year old with a high school diploma and no secondary education will make enough to pay for University.

    13. Can I contact you directly with questions?

    Yes definitely! email me at

I don't think that you could get enough traffic to interest anyone. Alex got visits because it was an original idea, and I think that none really thought at the beginning that he could sell all the pixels and be millionaire. That's why he profit from his idea, because it was original. You even don't rank in alexa (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/halfamilliondollarhomepage.com). What are your daily stast?

Ok, I have just read that your site is only two days old. Is normal that you don't rank in Alexa. Anyway, it's hard to get profit from this idea. Good luck

Honestly, I don't think what your saying is that correct. If alex's idea was so original, and originality decided what was profitable and what wasn't, his second project Pixelotto would of been a HIT. It was original. Was it successful? Somewhat, but not to it's full potential because he didn't utilize his tools or advertise. So your statements are false and aren't backed with any statistical information other than your opinion.
