Funny how YPN is doing this with Google taking them to lunch. Let's hope that they see the errors of their way and reinstate you.

Okay that go me no where....and I quote from the ypn guy on the phone

"This number is only really for people who have active accounts with us"

and I was like is there anyone else I can talk to

"No we gave you the reason in the email this is all we can do"

This doesn't seem like a good business way of handling things. All I wanted to know was how I could make my users convert their clicks. I asked the guy if I could put really big on the homepage don't click the ads unless you plan on buying something or siging up and he replied with no.

I'm sure there is someone higher up the chain you can speak to...

Would you mind telling us your CTR?

Yeah I'm calling back. With ypn I never reached over .1% ctr. Their ads are just so random that I could never do it.

dave and doug, if you dont mind answering... were you targetting your ads or were they targetted via ypn's contextual engine? if you were using ad targetting, were you targetting your niche or what you thought paid better? what age demographic were your users? not sure if they gave you the site url's that werent converting and i dont want to ask the obvious questions i would never answer, but is this an arcade site, myspace site, or a regular niche site? i recall someone recently getting the same email but they had noticed huge ctr drops, etc. looking back now, did you notice any "warning signs" like smaller payouts for equal traffic, less "valid" clicks, etc?

hopefully some of your answers will help others avoid the same fate. really sorry to hear this happen to you. im sure its a merry xmas for you anyway.

Poor Stewie... Oh, sorry. I got carried away by your avatar.
It is quite inconvenient that they do not reveal any clear criteria as to what qualifies.

The guy pretty much said to use google. I swear you can get no where with their operators. What I also don't get is they sent this email to two different people

    To: ; **************

Why did they send it to me and someone else? Who is that someone else.

I was using no ad targeting for a while but then they created the music one and I used that. My sites targeted teens mainly. I own a few myspace sites but also a ton of other sites. They didn't give any urls though so I'm not sure which site it was. My ctr has always been low because the ad targeting is so bad. I'm not sure what I could have done differently even the people at ypn have no clue. I called and had them review my sites and just last month not even a month ago they approved all my sites and said they are good to go. They have that on file too ypn keeps all the emails attched with your account. I still got the boot even though nothing has changed in the last month.

    Music, Tv

It's funny back in the day I used to target Insurance ads and stuff like that and I was doing 20-30k a month with ypn and they had no problems with it. I even emailed them and asked it if was okay and they said that it was fine. Then I saw all the bans take place months and months ago so I changed all my targeting to relevent ads. Now I get the boot for not converting relevent ads.

interesting. i have been holding a long time theory now that using ad targetting gives ypn some extra conversion tracking information. i avoid it like the plague simply on theory alone.

i have to admit, my ctr's are not that bad across my variety of sites and my cpa offers convert well so i know my "users" are convertable but still there isnt a day that goes by that i dont worry about that email. truthfully, ypn has lost 30% of my possible traffic as i wont put everything in their hands. i would rather make less and be more diversified simply because they dont have the decency to warn publishers of something like this. i know that a simple email to you saying site / url's x y and z are "not converting" and you would have rectified the situation, even if that meant removing the ads completely. it couldnt be any easier than that. but they dont do it. i guess google did buy up all the smartest talent.

Google do same thing by banning people. You have 1 day to make account not terminate even(save it). google directly terminate with small mistakes. other thing, i must say. don't make too much changes if you are happy with revenue, and they havn't ban you after 1 or 2 months of change.(any targetting or color change included)

Do you say "poor quality traffic" because of where your traffic from??? have you thought about that? If a large % of your traffic is coming from spam sources or myspace bulletins, don't you think they would consider this "poor quality traffic"??

    My CTR average is 0.2%.

I was targetting ads within my niche and blocking some that I thought would not convert with my demographic. I was getting around 40 - 50 cents a click so I guess it was just average payouts.

The cool thing is they will shut the account off in 24 hours of the time I got the letter. And my account has made more money than the last time Ive checked. So Im just going to wait for them to stop showing up on my site then replace with Google.

Im going to conact them and see if they can just ban all my current URLs and review a site I have in development and maybe let me stay in. Ill let ya know how that goes.
