I want to have LASIK eye surgery someday. Did it hurt? How much did it cost?
Were you able to wear your contacts there or did you have to wear glasses for awhile?

Depending on where you live it it can range from $500-$1500 per eye. There is some discomfort involved but nothing major. If you wear contact lenses you have to be out of them for 7 days prior to your evaluation (if you wear soft, if you wear gas permeable you have to be out of them for three weeks). Alot depends on how thick your corneas are, how big your pupils are in dim light, and how nearsighted you are. It does not work as well for farsighted people. Most refractive surgery centers will give you a free evaluation and let you know if you are a good candidate. If you are considering I would schedule an evaluation at a few different places and then compare cost as well as their recommendations.

I guess I'd get it done one eye at a time then. -_-

    To answer a few questions:

I can still see the computer monitor, it's just somewhat fuzzy. I think maybe my sight is getting a little better. I actually talked to my doctor today, and he said I'm still healing and to give it time.

My surgery cost about $2700.00 USD. I had to be out of my contacts for 3 weeks before surgery. There was some discomfort (and a very little bit a pain), but it wasn't bad.

Thanks for all your comments. After reading comments here, and on some other forums, I feel a little better that it seems as though what I'm going through is normal. I'll update this thread after my follow-up appointment on Friday.

The art of laser eye surgery is still in it's infant stage.
It's a method that hasn't yet been perfected. I feel sorry for the people who pay such a high price for
an operation that doesn't have the result they expected. I don't have perfect eyesight either, but
it will be many many years before science is advanced enough for me to trust. I've heard too many bad stories about Lasik. Sure, there are plenty of good stories, but it's the bad ones that scare the hell out of me.
