Had 1800+ pages indexed, now Google knocked it down to 300?

New site (3 months) and Google started indexing sites slowing, eventually reaching 1800. Then this week Google has actually been reducing the index and I'm now down to 300. Anyone know what's going on?

That's something normal. Don't panic. Just keep adding new content and build quality backlinks.
Your pages will be back in a few weeks. I'm 99% sure.

You will see a big change in indexed pages for new sites.

Build back links for the home page and also for the internal pages.

Sometimes google will do this if your pages contain duplicate content.

My site gets crawled regularly, I have about 50 odd pages but only 25 pages are being crawled, why google is not crawling other pages? I checked the page is valid xhtml, there is no issue of downloading the page also, I do regular changes in content on those pages but google never touches them.
Also important thing is I do regularly submit sitemap.xml.

They've given them to me. :)

I went from 300 indexed to over 1150.

    :)

    And I'm keeping them.

    it will almost always happen.
only way to get around it is build up a lot of links from the start (assuming it is a new site and all got indexed within teh last few weeks) and make sure to keep building links. getting links from authorative sites helps a *lot* in getting large sites (esp larger than 1800) indexed fast

1800 pages won't perform well in the index unless you got pretty sturdy set of backlinks. Don't worry too much. just start working on your backlinks. You can also interlink internal pages more heavily - that will help getting your pages indexed somewhat.
