Do you charge people to play wow on your server? Cause i know if you dont charge them then its not illegal but if you do you will in the future be shut down or sued.

 

No the Lineage 2 and WoW servers are totally free.
- However, you can donate to "us" and we can give you a cool weapon/armor or level you up etc.

 

Oh nm i here is a letter from blizz i guess its not legal either way if you charge or not.


Ok here is the be all end all word on the legality of this issue ... it could be up there somewhere from someone else but I didn't see it when I skimmed and most of you will just jump to the most recent entries anyway so here. I wrote Blizzard asking them about the legality of hosting your own server on your own machine for stricktly private use (just your self) the word I got back was no it is not legal. They said it violates the EULA that you agree to upon installation of the game. I am going to ask again just to see if I get different answers but here is a copy of the body of the email (onlly part cut off is my name and stuff).

***Connecting to or hosting a server that is not authorized by Blizzard Entertainment is against the End User License Agreement. This EULA is agreed to when you install the game- http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/eula.html. You are more than welcome to report private servers to our hacks team here: (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=eHacks000). While I cannot guarantee a response, I can assure you it will be read.

Hopefully this will shed some light on the situation. I am not saying I agree with this policy or if I do or do not have my own host. I am simply stating the facts

 

See if its legal or not, theres a fine line.

We do nothing against there TOS, we dont edit there files etc.

WoW and LIneage 2 servers will be around for a LONG time. Look at the dragon network for Lineage 2, they have over 25k members, more then the original servers...and they've been around for years and they have never been banned....

If you charge to play, then thats wrong, if you dont charge then its not....
