Hacked account - Please help

    Hey there,

I just ended an YM conversation with one if the fellow DP-ers I made a deal with. Claims he got his accounts hacked (paypal and DP account).
Wanted to know if the account webnet.writer got any e-mail/password changes in the past two hours.

He also posted this thread, which I believe it's not the authentic owner.

He tried resetting the password for his DP account, but it can't proceed since his e-mail is no longer in the DB (perhaps it's changed).
    Any suggestions?

No one will reveal info on when someone's pwd was changed or tampered with.

Its your own responsibility to keep good pwds and stay safe.

Several people have reported login attempts on their accounts today. I wonder if someone succeeded with his. I supposedly talked to him via PM this morn.

    Thanks for the reply, Smyrl.
Can we jump into an IM window to sort this thing out somehow?
Taking the liberty to PM you a log sequence I just had with him on YM.
Gnet, of course it is, but heh, it happens to the best, right?

Etherfast, Ask him when he last posted on DP and get back with me via a PM. I just banned his account due to the problem reported.

is this all because of that thread made by someone about 10 Most Common Passwords ? :p :p
When I saw that thread I changed my password...
Better use long passwords from now to avoid getting ur account hacked :)

Password needs not to be long. But it has to be strong. If you use this as pass: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz, it will be hacked easily. While you use something like: KJN*&^!@#Y No chance of being hacked except if there's a keylogger on your system.

spoke to webnet.writer today and he now have no access to his Yahoo email or Yahoo IM as well. If he is online then its not him but the HACKER.

He wanted me to pass on a messge that " DO NOT DEAL WITH WEBNET>WRITER for timebeing till mods(Smyrl) investigates the whole issue themselfs".

His mail accounts are gone as well. He should have changed his password after he did knew that his DP account got hacked.

I guess its a case of some keylogger which might have been installed on his computer from hacker,so there is no point of changing the passwd also.

If you suspect a keylogger than you should change your passwords using another computer rather then sitting around waiting for someone to take over all your accounts. Of course by the time you figure out there's a problem it's usually too late.
