I just started working on a website for SEO. It has several h3 tags, I know you should only have one h1 tag does this rule apply for h3 tags also or does it matter? Anybody with direct experience in this....theories are alright to I guess.

Aren't H3 tags your sub-titles throughout a page? If this is the case, it's best to have several or as many you need to organize/break up all that copy, I guess.

I'm thinking, just try to use a keyphrase within each H3, if it makes sense.

But as far as I know, having one H3 isn't a good idea if you're trying to get SEO juice.

Don't worry too much about multiple heading tags, I'd stick to just one h1 but after that just use common sense (don't have 20 h2's on the same page)

H3 tags may add a bonus to your keyword phrase, but having a ton of information/content where the phrase is used will have a much more desired effect.
