H1 tags what is the importance today ?

Recently a very huge site has taken over my number one spot and since then i have actively been searching the ways to out rank them. H1 tags are considered as One of the most important seo factor, my question is how much weight does h1 tags have these days what things to avoid while using them ? like may be avoid using same meta title and h1 tag ? where exactly should h1 tag be placed ? Please share your knowledge/experience regarding H1 tags.

The heading tag is very important SEO wise. You ask the correct way it should be used? Thats simple, the heading tag should be used as a heading tag. Use heading tags at the start of content, describing what the content is about, and don't spam or use keywords, use natural human content in the heading tag.

 

I think it is necessary as it is designed to tell the page topic and enable you to add keywords.

 

Use H1 for what they are meant to be used for - headers. It bolds the text for the purpose as a header text. This should help your ranking for the term used there also. It just makes sense as long as it fits the text that follows.

 

If you want to get the best out of your H1, you need to:
- get 1 or 2 keywords in it;
- use the keywords in a readable sentence;
- be careful not to align it too well with the title tag (at least make sure they are not the same);
- be careful not to bold the H1;
- be careful to use it only once/page.

My opinion is - H1 tag is very import for our website page. We should inster the most important keyword in H1 tag. Suppose our the most important keyword cheap flight to malta then we will insert this keyword in h1 tag like <h1>cheap flight to Malta</h1>

 

My advice is use it judiciously without spamming your keyword in the H1 position.

 

thats what i think that using same meta titile and h1 tag may raise some suspecision of over doing seo. I have seen bigger sites using multiple h1 tags in single page so is there any proof which shows multiple h1 tags are harmful. Finally did any one see a signifacnt rise in serps after adding h1 tags into their content? That data from german company looks good.

 

Germans don't know sh!t about tags (no offense, but the research looks ridiculous).

Also, I don't think there should be a penalty if the page title and H1 are the same... it is not abnormal for them to be the same, it is logical.

 

I really wish people wouldnt spam crap into threads that are clearly their own sites.
