While you are at it btw you may as well just cloak your pages and give google a page full of garbage... Thats just as easy to do if you can be bothered to do it... /rant
Hi there, For a quick fix, just knock the H1 off the page, here is the CSS: h1 { text-indent:-9000px; } Hope this helps Dan.
Just use CSS to define the H1 tag. It's very easy to do in Dreamweaver. Just click the CSS button, click the + sign and select "Tag" See http://www.mapaubingo.com/bingo-terms-dictionary.asp. "Bingo Terms Dictionary" is H1 and it still fits with the look of the page. Assuming you already have text on your page, just select the text you have highlighted already (a page title, something bolded, etc) and switch to H1. Use CSS and it will look the same to your users.
In short, NO! This is a very old Black Hat trick and imo will probably see your site penaised. I would advise the following: "Hard work in building links and more hard work in creating unique content". This is the long term plan for success. Other black hat techniques will (might) make you money in the short term but you won't be successful in the long term. So, don't do it.
I agree. The word cheat should not be used when working with search engines. That is just asking for trouble. Search engines want clean easy to read code and content that makes sense with no frills attached.
Answer is big Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Dont hide it, but take a look at the nav on one of my pages... www.boardingscene.com/forums.php See how I have the h1 tag in the nav, along with a description for the posts on the forum and such? Its good to set up a system like this, becasue it doesnt bother the users, and it helps search engines find what oyur site is about. I added css to my h1 to make it the font and size I wanted. You can not even tell it is a h1. Give her a try, but definately do not make your h1's invisible.
Oh gosh... I cant really remember. I do remember that I went to the nabar template in the admincp and added ha tags around the titles and such. Then I added a css style for the h1 tag in the aditional css section of the style. I wish I could remember, but I am sure it is on vbulletin.org.
