Yes having a clear and relevant h1 heading and page title is necessity. I think search engine places greater weight on page title than on h1 heading. You can have same text as page title and h1 heading.

Yeah. You need to concentrate on your heading and keyword to get your site placed on good position.

Effective search engine optimization involves many factors. Ranking highest in importance is providing informative content with proper page layout and programming. Header Tags (e.g. H1 and H2 tags): More weight is given to keywords that appear within H1 tags, then H2, H3 and so on. H1 Tag: The 1st heading on your page: Website Optimisation Tips and Advise. This should be followed by a short paragraph using variations of the target keywords and at all times making good grammatical sense, thinking of the potential reader first and the search engines second.

Thanks guys but going back to my original question when comparing titles and H1... Can the first and only H1. mirror page title. It is tricky since technically the title of the page is the same thing as the H1. Yes I know it isn't the same but as far as what it means and what it is trying to tell the Search engine.

Anyway should we try and make sure the Page title and H1. are different on each page and to what degree?

I think should not use 02 relavnt keywords on the single line as h1 tag. Do not use keywords too frequent to confuse crawlers. Better if you place those keywords in all important lines rather to use 2 h1 tags with same type of keywords.

To rank in search engine it is a good practice to use your primary keyword once in title and in H1 tag. Also check the density of keywords in site content and use your keywords in alt and title tags.

okay i just talked to my cto (seo pundit ;) ) and he suggests that however similar & relevant the duplicate H1 tags are.. it is NOT good seo to use them.,.. one H1 per page... thats it..

You can cover your keywords in H1 tag & search engines will give weightage
