    w3schools takes you from the beginning in a nice organzied manner, html goodies is better when you have at least a small amount of knowledge because it might be too intimidating at first.

    To be honest with you here, I've started with a small book (it was quite long time ago) and first practical step before building my first page was looking at source codes of other websites. That really helps! Soon, you'll see the pattern and it will (hopefully) be the piece of cake.

    That's good advice srdjan, I remember I did that too when I started.

    If you want to try out all your skills make one long html page with everything you know implemented in it. It's fun.

    well roy are the above webs are great for learning HTML.But the one i like the most is w3schools.com. so you also should have a try on it. i also learned alot from there.
