Guys, what does google think about videos?

I started as a person going for quality unique content on my sites, but in reality (regardless what google says) its not enough. You have to do the rest of the stuff-links, on-site seo, optimization etc...

Anyway, I am going to be adding some videos to my site in order to demonstrate things to people. Pictures and words are just not cutting it anymore for people. Some cool things I am recording, I plan to put up to share with people.
What is googles view of videos? they obviously can't crawl the content. Do i optimize it somehow? I know a majority of this is for me and my visitors, but ranking pays the bills in the end!
Should i stick to doing write-ups and pictures?
It seems that if a video is more enjoyable for a person thats great, but getting huge traffic from top 10 always wins

work with both on the site... there's really no way around it. A site with ONLY videos and no text = blank.

You can link build and work with off-site seo... but It'd be hard.

Interactive and catchy videos with good content description are the key both to present your site to users and SE bots...

I would not agreed with this.
Good content and highlighten text can easily readable by visitors, while videos takes time to load and some one need to watch and listen entire video. Also it requires more bandwidth for website.
And if you are going to place video, disable video load while page is loaded.
When some one clicks on videos than and than video should start.

so, obviously its easiest to put your video on somewhere like youtube, then post that link to your site. Are you not getting full credit for your movie as if it looks like your just posting you tube videos?
