Depending on the quality of the link and the amount of websites coming from that link helps page rank. I think if you link form a pr8 with 3 sites linking of the site the pr is divided into 3 and passed down the line. Just a guess but it makes sense to me.

    Go for onewaytextlink dot com
Here you find a huge list of directories and also there is a feature to make a record of websites that you have submitted.

good list. another thing i would add is social bookmarking submissions. if you need 200 backlinks to be showing with search engines, then you need to submit for lot more than that as not all the links will be showing with google and other SEs within two months.

Check my sig for a free directory list. Submit to all of them an you'll have your 300...they may not all show up in 2 months...but most of them will eventually.

Mike, I am curious as to how you came up with needing 300 links. What's the competition like for the keywords you are trying to target? Search for them in quotes ("example search") and let us know. How many backlinks do your competitors have and what type of quality are those backlinks?

Be careful of link brokers. Some have very poor targeting, and your links may end up on unrelated sites. Google can devalue these links, or in extreme cases, spank your site. If I were you, I would search out relevant link opportunities yourself. If needed, get a thorough seo consultation to help guide you.

    Good luck

PR isn't just about how many backlinks you have, it's also about your sites SEO and it's content. Like robibrk said: "Quality > Quantity"

    1 link building
    2 Directory submissions
    3 Blogs posting
    4 Article submissions

I am sure you will get more than 300 links with in one month.

300 links in one month is not difficult.
But 300 high quality links in one month is difficult.

I agree with homebizseo. Building that many links is fairly easy. I also think though that getting high PR links is much, much more valuable and may take quite a long time unless you fall into one or two? Buying links - well I think buying or renting or leasing links is OK for traffic purposes but I gather paying for links is a google bad thing.
I have stopped directory submission unless it is niche related!
Article submission- I have 30 articles that I could submit but I still ain't sure about duplicate content as I have content on two blogs, my site, squidoo........
Squidoo Lenses - have 8 working on more
    Hubpages- not yet
video- can't think of a video worth doing
Blog commenting on do follow blogs - do it daily
Getting 3000 back links not a problem - get some red bull!

Agree with some of you, Quality over Quantity. If you submitted to 2000 PR0 directories you might have a lot of backlinks but no PR. But a submission to maybe 50 PR4-6 directories could really boost you. As far as getting traffics and links... my 12 tips below. Cheers :)

    1. I find YouTube to be effect. Just say "Thanks to www.yoursitename.com for this video" in the credits.

    2. Posting on lots of forums with your site is good (don't spam or it becomes pointless)

    3. Post comments on other general blogs on the web, if they have a do-follow attribute this could help both your PR and your "Google Juice"

    4. Submitting some of your articles every now and then to www.ezinearticles.com can help you also get some good PR boost plus backlinks to your site. And if your a good writer there, people will feel inclined to come to your site.

    5. When uploading images to your blog always tag them properly. You'd be surprised by the amount of people that can stumble onto your blog from Google Images.

    6. Have a way to email an article or submit it to big social bookmarking sites. This way, if people really like the article, they have a easy way to save and share it.

    7. Word of mouth... doesn't sound like much, but small little things about "Hey did you see that article about blah blah on www.blah.com??" Can get you some good hits every now and again.

    8. Have a form of commenting or sign up. Making readers active or giving them an incentive to stay and read can be as simple as saying "What do you think?" Then it encourages people to comment on your writing.

    9. Send out newsletters... Try and keep them at least to monthly but remind your subscribers that your site is till alive and well. Lots of forum owner make this mistake. A forum with 10,000 members and only 5 active ones is sad, and part of it is because people signed up, then forgot.

    10. Offer contests as often as you can afford. It might not sound like much (again) but people just Googling "free whatever" might find your site, and if they like it enough, they might just stay despite them not winning.

    11. Be sure you submit to directories. There are thousands of free directories out there that can really help you. Some with higher PR can help your pagerank while reeling in a few occasional views (if you have made a good description for your site.

    12. Try and offer downloads from your site. If your hosting plan is bandwidth permitting (either unlimited or maybe 25TB) hosting full downloads from your site can be useful. People searching for say Firefox 3 might find your site, get the download from your site, then stay cause it looks cool.

I am not sure if you have noticed that there are sites that are PR3 and have more power than a PR 5 site. The difference I see is always in the alexa rankings. I am not sure how that works but I am guessing it has to do with the actual visitors and bounce rate that the site get's.

Not really. You need to look at the backlink profiles of the PR 5 and PR 3 sites. Chances are the PR 3 site has better offpage optimization for the keyword you are searching for.

Remember, toolbar PR is a general view of the health of a page. On the inside, Google can assign PR on a keyword to page level. Therefore, that PR 5 site may actually have a PR 2 for the keyword you are searching for while the PR 3 site has its PR 3.

PR is very important for competitive niches, but without proper keyword targeting it is useless...

Try http://www.directorycritic.com; not all directories there are good, but you have lots of directories to submit there. Just filter those you think is worthless to submit to.
