I use firefox 3. I generally browse sites by typing the the site name in the address bar. I do not enter the URL. So if i have to visit yahoo.com then I will just type "Yahoo" in my address bar..and i will be taken to the yahoo.com.. But i just found that when I enter "yahoo" I am taken to ask.com's search listing for the keyword "yahoo".. Can anyone help me how to revert it back??
I'm not sure how to revert it back, but you could try typing out those last 4 characters which would take a fraction of a second.
Well of course I can do that, but how can after 3 years with firefox suddenly I am being taken to ask.com's result pages?? Do you think its some malware??
Nope..I just installed a registry cleaner which i downloaded from download.com http://www.download.com/Wise-Registry-Cleaner/3000-2086_4-10605508.html After installing it I was notified to enable an ask.com addon which i disabled and uninstalled..I have also uninstalled the reg cleaner..
Look in the upper right corner where the "Search Field" is, does it display a "G" for Google??? If not use the Pull Down list and set it for Google search, it may be set for "ASK.com"...
i think u getting download ask.com tool bar on any plugin automatically install with your browser. but i can suggest u simple method. i m also use same method to brows net. >> if u want to brows yahoo then type yahoo in address bar and press ctrl+enter . and your browser automatically fill all required information with your site name yahoo like :: http://www.yahoo.com/ ~jakki~

Can anybody please suggest if I can go with my post above?? How can i preserve my bookmarks while uninstalling firefox??
Use Mozbackup utility... It will preserve all the data you want from firefox to a single file and can restore back later..... Google it to download.. its free
