Guys, I have 2 questions..

First let me say Happy New Year to you all, hope you all had a blinding festive season!

Ok my q's:

1) Why does my google webmaster tools show 350 links to my site but tools such as seocentro and seoquake don't show any?

and

2) Does Alexa rank really not effect serp? I use Internet Business Promoter to optomize my site for seo and whilst it says my traffic rank is higher than the average of the top 10 it says it's still low and may affect my serp in google! True or not?

 

I wouldnt rely on google webmaster tool to check backlinks. yahoo site explorer might get you a better picture.

alexa has no effect on serp.

 

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not relying on it! I do use yahoo, seocentro, seoquake, rank checker, rank tracker and I also do manual checks! I was just wondering why seocentro and seoquake did not show any google links when my webmaster tools does!

 

1) I have the same issue with google webmaster tools and toolbars that show backlinks, I think google doesn't make it easy to get that information which is why you'll see 0 backlinks listed for many sites when checking with toolbars (I use WebRank for Firefox).
I wouldn't worry about it, trust Google more than a 3rd party add-on and look at results, I know when I get +50 backlinks showing up on webmaster tools the results are obvious in the SERP.

I love the webrank toolbar, it is by far my favorite tool for SEO, it shows backlinks and pages indexed for the Big 3, Diggs, Tweets and Delicious for every site, page rank, alexa, compete, quantcast and my favorite feature "Similar Sites" which does exactly what it says, very helpful. I might just need to start a thread about it.

 

Cool I just installed it, its very similar to SeoQuake! ;-)

 

1, normally, the place display more backlinks will be more accurate, simply because the spider reason far more places.

2. Alexa Rank and SERP, emmm. I believe the SERP effect Alexa Rank a lot, not Alexa Rank changes SERP

 

I've also heard Google give you false number when checking your backlink count, yahoo site explorer is better.

 

I'd use backlink watch to check your backlinks. That's the best tool I've found

 

Google Webmaster tools backlinks will show the extract one.

 

Oh yeah, that's the one that flags nofollow links right?! I forgot about this one! ;-)

 

google can show you more backlinks because they have a better spider as compared to yahoo spider. Mostly many of the backlink checker uses yahoo site explorer to provide data. links in webmaster tools are not correct always.

And as far as your second option is concerned alexa does not helps to improve your serp's in any circumstance.
