Is it possible that Google has a different CPC for international publishers vs. US publishers even if they have the same traffic? Maybe they say..a person from a third world country can settle with less money so they pay them less for each click. This is probaly stupid..but it crossed my mind Sorry for the mistake in the title...my english is pretty bad
But what makes you come up with this idea? who the hell on earth is willing to accept your idea? Let's say, if a guys comes to you and says "hay dude, your salary is damn high but you dont have kids, you dont have to spend that much. Give me half of your money, I would be very greatful". Will u do that mate?
cool down her ehe just wondered if maybe google paid US publishers a bigger cut of the advertisers cost...its a valid thought. Derek
I don't think that's the case.. unless on the US site the traffic if from US, and on the other site the traffic is from other countries (like romania, which IS NOT a third world country.. you should know better )
maybe, they are a company with shareholders (who want money) after all and profit comes before all that "do no evil" crap that google try tell us every day but there is no way of knowing unless we have some sort of survey, but thats against google TOS to dislose CTR's so thers my 2c
"Don't do evil!" I'm from Romania as well and I don't think Google's cutting my profits because of my residence. I managed to get high paying clicks (at least that's what $0.35 means to me) as well as low ones ($0.05/3 clicks today - how low can it get?!) I think that targeted visitors and the content makes the most of a good click rate.
Dont insult the guy, its a fair point, although I dont personally think its right. Its like student tickets at the cinema...people who have less money can only afford less cost per ticket...so the cinema lowers the price, because it means extra business...
Don't get me wrong. I am very happy with the money that google is paying me, I earn almost 4 times the average sallary here. It was just someting that crossed my mind. gordonfreeman, I wasn't talking about my country when I said "a third world country".
our country I'm from Romania too.. and even though I just launched my site, I got a few 1.5$ clicks.. so I'm pretty sure google doesn't cut back due to residence
This is definitely not the case. Google pays all their publishers the same cut (except premium publishers), I don't think they differentiate between your country of origin. What does count however is the traffic you get. You have to bear in mind that most of the companies and business with big advertising budgets are located in the US. They are interested in US traffic and willing to pay the premium for advertising to them. So if the majority of your traffic is from outside the US then it's very likely that the ads your site shows will be lower paying for your international visitors or visitors from your country, because the US advertisers don't advertise to them, or they pay less. For example: US company pays $0.35 for US traffic, or $0.5 for international clicks. I'm not saying that advertisers from other countries pay less, you might get lucky and have a high paying advertiser for your country traffic, then your earnings should be good.
Crusader i think u meant 0.05 per click?! yes i noticed iget more during 11pm gmt, 6pm+-1 over in east coast US than the mornings which will be the evening for my far east visitors
I've found the same thing as Crusader... non-US based websites are very unlikely to get US-targetted ads. And considering a large chunk of the big-spending advertisers (lawyers, insurance, banking/finance, etc.) are based in the US with local customers, it will affect you if your website is hosted outside the US (or is targetted to local visitors).
