dmoz can't keep up with the submission and don't have time to check the fine detail of every website.
I say give up on them.

Clearly the OP has no idea what they are talking about.

The thread should have read like this:

    Guaranteed DMOZ entry

    1. Find DMOZ editor, get his paypal info

    2. send money

    3. get listed

My website was in Dmoz directory couple of years ago. But they have recently removed it. Its quite strange and very annoying as there are some poor quality website listed in the same category i used be listed on. :(

I have one site that was listed within 2-3 weeks, however another one is waiting about 2 months without any response.

I think you're OK if there is an editor for that particular category.

Worries me when they ask for an editor for the category you want to submit to!!

DMOZ is probably afraid to list my website.

You wanna know why ? They think i might be the next big thing.

Duh. DMOZ DMOZ DMOZ is that all you people revolve around ?

Have you actually analyzed how many visitors would actually come through DMOZ to your website even if it was listed ?

Google uses DMOZ for a reason, its not easy to get in.

Dmoz is a lot of garbage. Its not worth wasting any real time on.

If you think about it, what use does dmoz actually have to an end user? Think of a person who is just browsing the net, not a webmaster/site owner. Can dmoz seriously help them find what they are looking for faster/better than Google can? I would say the answer is definitely no.

So the only real use of dmoz is to give websites backlinks. Which in turn leads to people becoming editors for purely selfish reasons. Several times I've paid for inclusion. If someone is an editor because they own a site in that niche, do you think your competing site is ever going to be accepted?

With a new site I would still take 5 minutes to submit it and then forget about it. Its not worth spending another second even thinking about it.

Dmoz reminds me of my grans dog - its old, sick, lame and useless. It would be doing everyone a favour to put it down and get rid of it. In this day and age dmoz serves absolutely no legit purpose.
