We are fighting to save and restore our 2nd Amendment here in NY. Don't think it can't happen in your state. Obama wants your guns.

I respectfully disagree with your sarcastic tone there. There is a reason why gun crime in the UK is very, very low. In fact, the UK has one of the lowest gun crime rates in the world. (Source) The US has 40 times the amount of gun crime per 100,000 people.

I prefer living in countries (Taiwan, Europe and the UK) that have banned ownership of guns. It's good to know that not everyone is carrying a gun in their hand-bag, back-back, or on their person.

Good to be one of the sheep?

I'll take my chances living with the 2A. Our Founding Fathers kept their guns, sent the British home to King George, and started their own country. They were smart enough to draft the Constitution, I don't think the Bill of Rights was haphazardly written.

How so? Because I don't think guns should be something that people should be carrying around?

Er. The UK banned guns in 1997. The British still allowed guns at the time you are thinking of. Either way, I'm glad the UK has banned guns and as a result we don't have as many gun related homicides. This also goes for the many other countries that have banned guns.

    • Roughly 16,272 murders were committed in the United States during 2008. Of these, about 10,886 or 67% were committed with firearms.
    • Based on survey data from the U.S. Department of Justice, roughly 5,340,000 violent crimes were committed in the United States during 2008. These include simple/aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders.[13][14][15] Of these, about 436,000 or 8% were committed by offenders visibly armed with a gun.
    • A 1997 survey of more than 18,000 prison inmates found that among those serving time for a violent crime, "30% of State offenders and 35% of Federal offenders carried a firearm when committing the crime."
    • Homicide at 30-year England and Wales low [Source]
    • In 2005, 96% of the firearm murder victims in Chicago were killed with handguns.[56]
    • In 2007, there were 613 fatal firearm accidents in the United States, constituting 0.5% of 123,706 fatal accidents that year.[120]
    • In 2007, there were roughly 15,698 emergency room visits for non-fatal firearm accidents,[123] constituting 0.05% of 27.7 million emergency room visits for non-fatal accidents that year.[124]
    • These emergency room visits for non-fatal firearm accidents resulted in 5,045 hospitalizations, [125] constituting 0.4% of 1.4 million non-fatal accident hospitalizations that year.[126]
I'm no advocate for guns, so, maybe your legal system on guns work. Banning guns seems to work everywhere else, maybe the US is the exception. Also, great source.

Your head is buried in the sand. Re-read what I wrote. Only the criminals have guns and you're utterly stupid if you disagree with that. Therefore, the gun laws ARE NOT working.

Going by your way of thinking, then the gun laws are working - in favour of criminals.

Our violent crimes rates - while claimed to have gone down recently - is still very high. This is far more concerning than if someone legally owns a gun, is registered and has received training (unlike criminals who are not). Owning a gun doesn't mean they will go out and kill someone. Owning a gun might mean a woman will shoot someone who tries to rape them (one less rapist, what a shame), or a man can defend his family and property when their house is broken into (yes, I'm sure you know this story well) without ending up in prison, or can avoid being killed for defending his family and neighbourhood (a young family man killed for standing up to local thugs, don't remember his name, sadly).

;-) I just found the post before mine incredible. I wondered if they were joking, but it came across as very serious. The world was just as barbaric before guns as it is now (or perhaps it is more so now?).
