    Hey fellow Dp'ers!

Have a look at a site I started to develop and tell me what you think! This site is incomplete, but here's the question I have for you...

If you were a beginner guitarist presented with this offer, would you subscribe? (aweber not integrated, so doesn't work yet still building autoresponder) I have a lot of excellent content I have been working on (the posts there now are more "filler" for the time being)! This includes advanced music theory lessons, technique and practice improvements guitarists need, categories for genre specific lessons, etc...and will be integrated with the newsletter!

Anyways, let me know here's the link!

Looks ok, the top sections screams "pay me money" even though you just want them to subscribe, maybe use less text decoration in that section and give it to them straight. The image at the top looks generic, as you said it's unfinished so maybe you'll change that anyway.

Hey pixelqueen thanks for the advice! Ya the header is super generic I'm putting something together that should be a better fit. Thanks for the advice on the feature area! I will tone it down there, and make it more narrow (the footer as well). Anyways, thanks again!

Yeah, I'm a little overwhelmed by all the colors in the subscription area, too. The "currently free for subscribers" text, the most important part, is hard to read. I would work on that a bit.

The rest of the design looks pretty good, though.

I wanted the free lessons but was unable to get them. So, make it so I can get them and I'll give you a thumbs up. The other parts of the site were good also. Thanks

Well, a few things - understanding that the site is not complete:

    1. Your market is really saturated, I mean really saturated. Guitar related stuff was among the first on the internet and has grown substantially since. Being a guitar player myself, I have gone through endless tab sites

    2. I cannot tell if the objective of your page is to be informative with incidental advertising, or if you are actively trying to sell (really, giveaway) the product up top in hopes of building a list. Seeing as you are using Aweber, I assume you have more in store, but whatever plug-in/module your using for your signup box is colored in such a way as to turn off potential subscribers. Need to refine it. Also, placement - it's in two places. Your eye will gravitate naturally to the top-left. Put your most important stuff there ;)

    3. Need to use a different WP template/color scheme.

    Best of Luck!

Hey thanks for dropping in and providing me with some great information!

    In response to your advice:

    1. This is a list building goal (starting out) using paid traffic for subscribers (targeting newbie/intermediate guitarists) . I understand the saturation, which is why I do not expect much search engine traffic. I do have quality content I'm placing on the auto responder developed by a guitarist I hired (any newb or mid level guitarist will find this information useful, still implementing).

    2. The goal is to be informative in the end. Articles are going to be written to inform, and also target long tails. I am also going to allow local guitarists to create more lesson based content on ad share terms (in the future).

    3. Ya, that took me about 5 minutes to put together. And I will definitely heed your advice in this area! (and thanks for the top left advice too!)

    Have a good one!

No problem - I really hope you do well.

You know the other thing is - despite the market saturation, a lot of the guitar sites out there are pure crap. Especially the ones that peddle guitar pro (an excellent program BTW) and powertab - they make it impossible to find the download link among other deceptive things. I hate UltimateGuitar, but it the only universal tab search out there right now that returns sufficient results (hint hint).

    Best of Luck!
