    HI dear friends,

first of all I am very happy to have found this community of what I believe is great people with lots of experience to share with other fellow friends.

I am very new in the business of generating traffic to blogs and all the time-frame related things to this business.

I am trying to make myself an idea of the average time needed to make a blog or website generate about 1000usd a month in income knowing that:

    1) The blog or site will always have content generated by myself (unique)
    2) I still have to keep my day job so my actual times to work on my site is around 2-3 hours a day.

What I am interested in is (you can also provide links if these questions are answered somewhere else :) ):

    1) Details on average time frames to generate SEO traffic
    2) details on what are the most rewarding (time worth) strategies to generate traffic
    3) Ideas to keep visitors coming back
    4) Any kind of chart or analisis in order to know if I am on the right direction for an average blog or site in terms of traffic growth.
    5) Ideas to increase CTR
    6) What is it mean by link building and strategies?
    7) any other question you might find I am leaving out (sorry im too new)

Sorry if many questions are already answered or are too stupid... just bare with me :)

Thank you very much in advance and waiting for your reply
    Gustav S

    1) There is NO average time frame. It depends on your promotional budget, your brand, your SEO skills etc. But since google will not usually trust new sites that much, you do need to be patient. Count on at least 6 months before getting any traffic, even if you do everything right.

    3) Keeping visitors coming back is dependent on your unique offerings, whether they be a reliable shop or your unique perspective.

    5) CTR should increase if you do optimization of color scheme and types of adsense adblocks (i assume you mean CTR in relation to adsense?)

    6) Link building is the art of getting people to link to your site. It helps if you have something unique to offer. Good links to your site will increase your search engine rankings. Don't get ANY spammy links to your site at this point. You need quality sites to link to you.

    Good luck!

Yup... most likely 6 months before you start seing some supplemental Google traffic and probably more than a year, even two, before you start getting real organic search traffic... results can vary and it will really depend on the time, quality and advertising push you can get!

You won't become a SEO expert over night, but spend some time on this forum and other sites reading up on the subject and start implementing some of the tips and tricks that you learn. Trial and error will be how you learn.

$1,000 is very doable with Google revenue and some affiliate stuff but you will need to come up with some super content if you wan't to keep the revenue stream constant.

The internet is like any business, you will have to put in a lot of time and money for a year or two before you will even start seing a return on your investment.

guess your questions are what every blogger and would-be blogger wants to know too. Unfortunately, there is no clear answer as there are blogs that reach instant fame within a couple of weeks, while others struggle on for months or years despite the best content.

There are lots of 'X' factors that comes into play together with timing & luck. If it clicks at the right time, you get a following, if not, try again.... so my best advice to you is to start slow and do it only if you have a passion for blogging. You can never tell how well it will go until you start.

Unfortunately, i too wished for answers when i started, but found none. I will tell you again when my blog (see recent blog post :p) becomes successful in due season:D

you can get indexed in the major search engines relatively quickly, but how high you are ranked will take time and effort.

Unique quality content is the most important aspect of a powerful blog.

There are many different components to getting rank in the search engines. You need to set your blog up for SEO purposes from the very beginning, do keyword research, get quality back links, and the list can go on and on.

Blogs are a very powerful way of earning an income and driving traffic, but you must do it right.

    regards,
    Shannon

Couldn't agree more about the unique content..too many people just try to copy exactly what other people have done and you get no where that way. Be original=)
