Here's what I use as guideline when developing websites for SEO. I go down the list one by one. Seems to work well. 1. Domain name with keywords(dashes) example: cheap-dog-toys.com 2. title of the page with keywords. example: Cheap Dog Toys - Dog toys for sale at up to 50% discount. 3. H1 tag of the page. example: Cheap dog toys for sale listing 4. folder name with dashes. examples: dog-toys, cat-toys 5. file name with underscore. examples. cheap-dog-toys-listing, sale-dog-toys 6. content should have your keyword phrase in it. Your url would be something like this: http://www.cheap-dog-toys.com/dog-toys/cheap-dog-toys-listings.html or http://www.cheap-dog-toys.com/dog-toys/sale-dog-toys.html Code (markup): This should be maximizing your potential for ranking well for dog toys. With some backlinks, you should find it worth your while What you guys think of this approach? Have I left out something important? _________________ PHP Hosting | Pagerank Checker Tool | Reliable Dedicated Servers | Web Master Resource Center
Not quite sure what happened to my reply, but it seems to have disappeared. Anyways...Thought your information was quite useful, but if cheapdogtoys.com is available, would that make for a better domain?
I think domains without dashes are great for humans. As for SE, it does not seem to matter. _________________ PHP Hosting | Pagerank Checker Tool | Reliable Dedicated Servers | Web Master Resource Center
Keep it reasonable. If you use eight KW stuck together with dashes, it might as well say SPAM in flashing lights. I would not exceed three KW to maintain credibility with the user.
Agreed. You can also mix and match the keword separators. Example: cheap-dogtoys or cheap_dog-toys All variations should work nicely. _________________ PHP Hosting | Pagerank Checker Tool | Reliable Dedicated Servers | Web Master Resource Center
