A good post, however I have to disagree with your points about meta keywords. Google official dropped support for meta keywords over 10 years ago (1998 to be exact, source).

I havent included meta keywords in my websites for a good few years now, and have no problem attacking the top positions!

In fact, the only thing meta keywords are useful for, are for finding your competitors keywords and then taking them off them.

Good article for beginners. Meta title tag is definitely the most important.

 

Thanks . I agree that the title tag is important but it is not a <meta> tag, so I left it out. Perhaps I will one day write a tutorial on title tags
