Heres another great tip even I use.

Don't overdo the anchor text. You don't want all your inbound links looking the same, because that looks like automation – something Google frowns upon. Keep the url the same, but change your anchor text from time to time like for example this is what I do: "Fantasy PC" occasionally, "Fantasy PC Forums and Gaming" as well, "Fantasy PC Talk about anything" and some other text which are related.

Question: out of all tips you gave, how many of them you actually used? What's the highest PR link you 've ever get?

and for all the work you did, you only get "100 uniques a day with some times more than 200 Uniques."?

I used all of those tips right there.
The highest pr link I got was PR6 from 2-3 sites.
I have about 2000+ backlinks. Pages indexed in google, yahoo, and msn.
I have about 15+ PR3+ sites linking to me.
I get 6500-8000 hits per day.
I am not sure about uniques though, I got a lot back in August though because of summer, and in October.

I actually saw a SEO website (dedicated to SEO) that had a forum. In the forum they tagged all signature links with rel=nofollow! Whay on earth would you do that on a website DESIGNED for SEO?

Wow thats harsh. They probably dont want so many backlinks given off from lower pr sites. But still, it's not often you see forums with the no follow.

Oh and by the way nofollow means : An attribute used in a link to instruct search engines not to follow the link.

Basically it lets the site choose to give you there backlink. Some directories have this option as well. Mine does but I do not use it at www.fantasy-pc.com/directory

I have read the SEO Elite is a very good tool. It gives nice tools for backlinks, pr, keywords, all sorts of things. It is very useful for someone who is good at SEO and knows how to work its features.

I agree with everthing you've said apart from point 4.

If you have enough IBL's (inbound links) then the search engines will find you. SOME have suggested it can even be damaging to submit your site manually - however i CANNOT, for the life of me, see how / why that would be the case.

    Nice post otherwise!

Yup I recently read they may be harmful, but never tested it out on how. I think the main reason is just because it crawls from 6-8 weeks and if you get IBL's then it crawls for a PR4 link 2-3 days, PR5-6 link 1-2 days, and PR7-8 24 hours.

    Heres some more helpful hints:

----A website is the collection of webpages under a single domain. A webpage refers to a specific page within a website. Unique page titles throughout a website is important. Websites typically contain many webpages and using unique titles on webpages will help highlight different key phrases while uniting all the website content in a single theme.

----Provide quality, consistent, fresh content. Consistent related content is critical to encouraging both visitors and search engines to return. Providing consistent quality content encourages links which will increase a websites popularity.

----Related links are essential. True that if you get a link on PR7 site that is a music site but your a webmaster site it wont give you traffic, but it will give you links. But, links from related or relevant sites are more important than generic links from unrelated websites. Links are seen as “votes” of quality content. Search engines weigh links from websites that contain related or similar content more importantly, than links from unrelated websites.

Yea thanks everyone. By the way software, people always emphasize meta tags, and keywords, so I thought this would be a more over guide to pr and link building.

Hey, thanks for the good advice, but aren't Link Exchanges a bit dicey these days? Would you mind expanding on how to use link exchanges wisely w/o penalty from the bots? That would be great...I noticed a lot of directories ask for link exchanges (usually optional), I stay away from them. What are your thoughts?

Let me add my own little advice. When you are reading a forum and something you have written on your site is relevant to the discussion then post a link to it. For ex: if you can't be bothered to go through all the pages of this thread then please read this blog post about SEO basics that I wrote a few months back ;)

    Basically for Link Exchange:

    1. Do not link with linkfarms
    2. Do not link with banned sites or bad sites.
    3. Link with relevant themed sites.
    4. Link with sites with good pr or traffic.
    5. Link with sites that don't have too many outbound links like more than 20.

    ---
    A few definitions: Please Read!

Inbound Links: Links from a site that direct users to your site.

Outbound Links: Links that direct users outside of your site. This is not directly meaning that someone is trying to link against you, it means the person linking sites, is linking to more than one site other than yours.

    EXAMPLES: Very Important !!!!

Inlinks are kind of like say I have a website fantasy pc. I put a link to say another site google. I have no other links on my site directing other than google. That is an inbound link. Its ok to have a few other links but too many results in outbound link farms.

Outbound links are a kind of way saying there are more than 1 link to someone elses site. Say I have a site fantasy pc, and I link to google, yahoo, and msn. That means I am directing users to more than one site.

Overall: Inlinks are good, and outbound links are good. Thats what directories are like. But when someone has too many outbound links such as Link Farms, you don't know waht links could be there, maybe bad or banned sites. So be careful what links there are.

--- By the way, I created everything I write here entirely original from my mind, if you think I copied this from somone or some site, I did not.---
