I'm planning to start a free magazine to be distributed in chennai,India. Please give your suggestions and instructions. I also want to know where to get permission for starting this free magazine. Its a magazine of 50 pages only . Please answer me for the following doubts. 1) where to get permission? 2) what kind of images can be posted in the magazine(stock images, royalty free images etc) 3) Estimated cost for printing 4) How to get advertisers, and average price for advertisers, 10000 copies is my plan for the 1st issue. ads will be on cover page, cover back, second page, last cover and internal ads we are looking for photographers and writers from india based on the niche Public topics Home and lifestyle Movies News Gaming Health and bodycare Gadgets Entertainment and fun I'm also welcoming blog post to be posted on the magazine. this is a webmaster forum and off line marketing should be off topic... still here are a few quick tips, 1) go niche, start your magazine on a focused topic and you will find it much easier to get advertisers and even blog posts. 2) for content, i would suggest you contact a few article directories and ask their permissions to use their content in your magazine. am sure they will allow you if you retain the backlinks and source, since its off line magazine so you will have to give full url as the source, you can't anchor text the links lol 3) for permission and stuff, i guess you should post in the legal category of this forum. they might guide you with the legal requirements, even you can consider contacting a local lawyer for more details. 4) for advertisers you can start off with the advetise section of this forum, under services. though the real ads you will get only after a successful distribution of your magazine's first circulation, 5) for images, i would suggest you to go through flicker, contact the members who own those pictures and ask for permission. if they give you the permission then use those images, make sure to mention the source of the image. 6) about the cost, i guess the printing press would be able to give you a better answer about it,
I would contact local businesspeople for advertising; store owners, ect. As for content; write it yourself or hire a writer. Unique content is also the best. Many images online are free as long as you cite where you get it from. Cost for printing: ask the printer.
yes but i dunno whether i can use flickr images, some photos have attribute rights, but can they be used in magazines?
